The equalization scheme of the residual voluntary health insurance in Slovenia
Boris Zgrablić, 2015, original scientific article

Abstract: Residual voluntary health insurance in Slovenia covers the difference between the (recognised) value of the health service and the part of this value that is payed by the compulsory health insurance. From the inception of compulsory health insurance in 1992, residual voluntary health insurance has open enrolment. From 2006 community rating applied, as well as an equalization scheme with which the differences in health services expenses, arising from the different structures of the insurees of the single insurance undertakings regarding age and gender, shall be equalized. The equalization scheme of the residual voluntary health insurance in Slovenia is presented, along with a detailed explanation of the formulae required for the computation.

Abstract: Endoglin (CD105), a transforming growth factor (TGF)-% coreceptor, and endothelin-1, a vasoconstrictor peptide, are both overexpressed in tumor endothelial and melanoma cells. Their targeting is therefore a promising therapeutic approach for melanoma tumors. The aim of our study was to construct a eukaryotic expression plasmid encoding the shRNA molecules against CD105 under the control of endothelin-1 promoter and to evaluate its therapeutic potential both in vitro in murine B16F10-luc melanoma and SVEC4-10 endothelial cells and in vivo in mice bearing highly metastatic B16F10-luc tumors. Plasmid encoding shRNA against CD105 under the control of the constitutive U6 promoter was used as a control. We demonstrated the antiproliferative and antiangiogenic effects of both plasmids in SVEC4-10 cells, as well as a moderate antitumor and pronounced antimetastatic effect in B16F10-luc tumors in vivo. Our results provide evidence that targeting melanoma with shRNA molecules against CD105 under the control of endothelin-1 promoter is a feasible and effective treatment, especially for the reduction of metastatic spread.

Burnout and lifestyle of principals and entrepreneurs
Jasna Lavrenčič, Boris Bukovec, Damir Karpljuk, Maja Meško, 2014, original scientific article

Abstract: Research Question (RQ): What kind of lifestyle do the principals and entrepreneurs lead? Does the lifestyle of principals and entrepreneurs influence burnout? Purpose: To find out, based on the results of a questionnaire, what kind of lifestyle both researched groups lead. Does lifestyle have an influence on the occurrence of the phenomenon of burnout. Method: We used the method of data collection by questionnaire. Acquired data were analyzed using SPSS, descriptive and inference statistics. Results: Results showed, that both groups lead a similar lifestyle and that lifestyle influences burnout with principals, as well as entrepreneurs. Organization: School principals and entrepreneurs are the heads of individual organizations or companies, the goal of which is success. To be successful in their work, they must adapt their lifestyle, which can be healthy or unhealthy. If their lifestyle is unhealthy, it can lead to burnout. Society: With results of the questionnaire we would like to answer the question about the lifestyle of both groups and its influence on the occurrence of burnout. Originality: The study of lifestyle and the occurrence of burnout in these two groups is the first study in this area. Limitations/Future Research: In continuation, research groups could be submitted to the research fields of effort physiology and tracking of certain haematological parameters, such as cholesterol, blood sugar and stress hormones - adrenaline, noradrenalin, cortisol. Thus, we could carry out an even more in depth research of the connection between lifestyle and burnout.

Pomen organizacijske kulture za uspešnost storitvenih organizacij
Nataša Vrčon-Tratar, Boris Snoj, 2002, original scientific article

Abstract: Nedvomno je organizacijska kultura kot notranja zavest determinanta vedenja zaposlenih in pomemben fenomen znanstvenega proučevanja, predvsem z vidika potencialnega dejavnika razvijana konkurenčne prednosti organizacij. V prispevku obravnavamo nekatere vidike kulture organizacije in ugotavljamo, ali ustrezna usmerjenost in moč organizacijske kulture pomembno prispevata k učinkovitemu uresničevanju ciljev v organizacijah ter doseganju večje poslovne uspešnosti. Posebej osvetljujemo pomen organizacijske kulture v storitvenih organizacijah, v katerih je človeški dejavnik zaradi narave storitev ključni tvorec t. i. "mehkih sestavin" ponudbe, ki dandanes vse bolj pomenijo neizčrpen vir konkurenčnega pozicioniranja na trgu.

Bober (Castor fiber) v Sloveniji

Populacija bobrov v Sloveniji predstavlja obrobje hrvaške populacije.
