22. Impact of population ageing on education level and average monthly salary : The Case of SloveniaŽiga Čepar, Marjetka Troha, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Population ageing is a contemporary problem, which does not only mean changing demographic structures, but also affects economy. Based on our research we cannot reject our main research thesis that population ageing has a significant impact on human capital in Slovenia. Using multiple regression analysis, on cross-section data of Slovenian municipalities, we cannot reject our first hypothesis that population ageing in Slovenia leads to lower education level and our second hypothesis that population ageing leads to lower average net monthly salary. Main contribution of this research therefore is the finding and empirical confirmation of the specific impact that population ageing has on human capital based on specific case of Slovenian cross section data. Results of the research imply that some measures have to take place in order to mitigate the unfavourable effects of population ageing on human capital.

25. R&D and education resources in innovation processes : evidence from Slovenia and the Visegrad GroupMitja Ruzzier, Tanja Kosi, Doris Gomezelj Omerzel, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This article provides a cross-country analysis of the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation processes in the European Union countries, with a focus on Slovenia and the four countries of the Visegrad Group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland). By examining relationships between different composite innovation indicators, our study reveals patterns in the input-output-outcome relationships at different stages of the innovation process and highlights country-specific bottlenecks and possible efficiency gains in the use of R&D and education resources. Benchmarking the effectiveness and efficiency of innovation systems and processes across selected countries is valuable for different target groups, to whom we offer insights into the R&D environment, barriers to technology transfer and possible improvements in innovation policies.

30. The information society, a challenge for business students?Viktorija Florjančič, 2015, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: We welcome digital natives to our university assuming they are competent computer and internet users. However, testing their computer skills at the beginning of the course revealed that they are not as highly skilled as was initially expected. The majority of students had surprisingly never heard of the massive open online courses that have been challenging higher education in recent years. Moreover, a lot of students do not use freely accessible learning resources on the web. Collecting data from Eurostat statistics raises an interesting issue - more and more EU households are getting broadband internet access and internet penetration is not only following users that have accessed the internet once in the last 3 months, but users that access the internet daily. It would be expected that individuals, especially those aged under 30, are highly computer and internet literate, but the data analysis revealed otherwise. Not only students included in the research presented in the empirical part of this paper, but also an average young internet user of one of the 28 EU countries. Using Facebook and the first Google search result is not enough anymore.
