Kadilske navade in izpostavljenosti tobačnemu dimu smo analizirali z univariatnimi in multivariatnimi statističnimi metodami.

Abstract:Aim: The Zasavje region has long been considered to have the highest prevalence of smoking in Slovenia. The aim of this study was to determine smoking habits among the general population of Zasavje compared to the Ljubljana region and Slovenia as a whole. Methods: The data were acquired by the national survey on health behaviour of 15,379 adults aged 25-64.The survey was conducted in 2001. The overall response rate to mailed questionnaires was 64%, with 9,043 questionnaires being eligible for analysis.Smoking habits and exposure to tobacco smoke were analysed using the univariate and multivariate statistical methods. Results: The proportion of current smokers in Zasavje (29.0%) was not statistically different from that for the rest of the Ljubljana health region (24.1%; p=0.235), or the rest of Slovenia (23.6%; p=0.089). The univariate method showed statistically significant differences in exposure to passive smoking between the Zasavje region (37.1%) and the rest of the Ljubljana health region (29.6%; p=0.022), and between the Zasavje region and the rest of Slovenia (30.3%; p=0.033). The differences between data standardized for educational level and residence community, however, were not statistically significant (pZasavje region vs Ljubljana health region=0.329, and pZasavje region vs Slovenia=0.273, respectively). Conclusions: The study provided important information for planning health promotion activities directed towards the reduction of passives moking in the Zasavje region.
