These ideologies often fail to acknowledge the multiplicity and complexity of diasporic populations with negative effects on community language learning and maintenance. This study focuses on the language ideologies of teachers working in a community schools in Italy. Owing to Ukraine’s complex history and multi-ethnic make-up, the Ukrainian community is highly diverse in terms of its members’ linguistic repertoires and practices.
