Cycle separating cuts in possible counterexamples to the cycle double cover and the Berge-Fulkerson conjectures

Abstract: It is known that smallest counterexamples to the Cycle Double Cover Conjecture and Berge-Fulkerson Conjecture (if they exist) are cyclically 4- and 5-edge-connected, respectively. We further analyse small cycle separating cuts in possible counterexamples. We prove that if a smallest counterexample G to the CDC Conjecture contains a cycle separating 4-cut S, then the behaviour of the admissible CDC coverings along the dangling edges of the two 4-poles induced by S is uniquely determined among more than 2 a priori possibilities. Similarly, for the Berge-Fulkerson Conjecture, we prove that among more than 2 a priori possibilities, there are only 13 pairs of admissible sets that could occur along the dangling edges of a 5-cut in a smallest counterexample.

Regular colouring defect of a cubic graph and the conjectures of Fan-Raspaud and Fulkerson

Abstract: We introduce a new invariant of a cubic graph – its regular colouring defect – which is defined as the smallest number of edges left uncovered by any collection of three perfect matchings that have no edge in common. This invariant is a modification of colouring defect, an invariant introduced by Steffen in 2025, whose definition does not require the empty intersection condition. In this paper we discuss the relationship of this invariant to the well-known conjectures of Fulkerson (1971) and Fan and Raspaud (1994) and prove that colouring defect and regular colouring defect can be arbitrarily far apart.

Adjacent vertex distinguishing total coloring of corona product of graphs

Abstract: An adjacent vertex distinguishing total k-coloring f of a graph G is a proper total k-coloring of G such that no pair of adjacent vertices has the same color sets, where the color set at a vertex v, C_f^G(v), is {f(v)} ∪ {f(vu)|u ∈ V(G), vu ∈ E(G)}. In 2005 Zhang et al. posted the conjecture (AVDTCC) that every simple graph G has adjacent vertex distinguishing total (Δ(G) + 3)-coloring. In this paper we confirm the conjecture for many types of coronas, in particular for generalized, simple and l-coronas of graphs, not relating the results to particular graph classes of the factors.

Semiregular automorphisms in vertex-transitive graphs with a solvable group of automorphisms

Abstract: It has been conjectured that automorphism groups of vertex-transitive (di)graphs, and more generally 2-closures of transitive permutation groups, must necessarily possess a fixed-point-free element of prime order, and thus a non-identity element with all orbits of the same length, in other words, a semiregular element. The known affirmative answers for graphs with primitive and quasiprimitive groups of automorphisms suggest that solvable groups need to be considered if one is to hope for a complete solution of this conjecture. It is the purpose of this paper to present an overview of known results and suggest possible further lines of research towards a complete solution of the problem.

A note on domination and independence-domination numbers of graphs

Abstract: Vizing's conjecture is true for graphs ▫$G$▫ satisfying ▫$\gamma^i(G) = \gamma(G)$▫, where ▫$\gamma(G)$▫ is the domination number of a graph ▫$G$▫ and ▫$\gamma^i(G)$▫ is the independence-domination number of ▫$G$▫, that is, the maximum, over all independent sets ▫$I$▫ in ▫$G$▫, of the minimum number of vertices needed to dominate ▫$I$▫. The equality ▫$\gamma^i(G) = \gamma(G)$▫ is known to hold for all chordal graphs and for chordless cycles of length ▫$0 \pmod{3}$▫. We prove some results related to graphs for which the above equality holds. More specifically, we show that the problems of determining whether ▫$\gamma^i(G) = \gamma(G) = 2$▫ and of verifying whether ▫$\gamma^i(G) \ge 2$▫ are NP-complete, even if ▫$G$▫ is weakly chordal. We also initiate the study of the equality ▫$\gamma^i = \gamma$▫ in the context of hereditary graph classes and exhibit two infinite families of graphs for which ▫$\gamma^i < \gamma$▫.
