1. Web Implementation of 3-way ChessJanez Koprivec, Matija Marolt, Ciril Bohak, 2025, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph Abstract: This paper presents the design and implementation of a web-based platform for three-player chess, a non-standard variant developed by Dario Varga that until now has only existed in physical form. The work addresses several human–computer interaction challenges: intuitive visualization of a hexagonal chessboard, synchronization of three players in real time, and support for learning unfamiliar rules. The platform was developed using Node.js, React, Mantine, Socket.IO, and MongoDB, providing user account management, both single-device and online multiplayer modes, and access to game history. A key contribution lies in creating a user-friendly and responsive interface that lowers the entry barrier for new players while ensuring robust performance in real-time gameplay. Evaluation confirmed that the application meets functional requirements and offers minimal latency for online play, with results highlighting the impact of server proximity on player experience. The project demonstrates how thoughtful interaction design and modern web technologies can support the digital transformation of analog games, broadening accessibility and engagement with alternative chess variants. The system is available at: https://chess3.musiclab.si/. Keywords: human-computer interaction, chess, online games Published in RUP: 30.01.2026; Views: 397; Downloads: 1

2. Serious Digital Game-Based Learning in Nursing Education : Empowering Students for Clinical CompetenceBetül Tosun, Ayla Yava, 2025, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph Abstract: The evolution of technology in the era of digital transformation has significantly impacted the landscape of healthcare education, ushering in a paradigm shift in the way knowledge is imparted. This shift, accelerated by the imperative for online learning due to disruptions in traditional, in-person education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has compelled nursing educators to revamp existing curricula. Amidst these changes, digital educational applications, notably serious games, have gained prominence. Serious games are interactive computer applications designed with the aim of imparting specific learning objectives to players. Featuring challenging goals, engaging design, and scoring systems, serious games are believed to motivate students and aid in goal achievement. While the popularity of serious games in healthcare education is on the rise, their usage in nursing education has generally shown positive outcomes. This review aims to evaluate mobile-based serious games on the clinical competency development of undergraduate nursing students. 3. Exploring social interactions on the Adriatic networkŽiga Velkavrh, 2025, original scientific article Abstract: This paper explores social interactions on the Adriatic network consisting of six countries surroundingthe Adriatic Sea. Using game theory, we analyze how three well-known classes of 2x2 strategic games, namely Prisoner’s dilemma, anti-coordination and coordination games, would be played on the Adriatic network. We determine all Nash equilibria, i.e., steady states, and obtain two main results. First, anti-coordination games on the Adriatic network always induce multiple (4, 5, 7 or 12) Nash equilibria that vary with payoffs and may differin efficiency. Second, coordination games on the Adriatic network have only trivial equilibria, unless a specific condition on payoffs is met, in which case two new equilibria emerge. Our findings may be of great interest for policy makers and other scholars interested in maritime pollution control and other water-related problems, as well as biodiversity conservation, as they indicate at which maritime borders (anti)coordination issues and resulting inefficiencies may arise. Knowing that, one may give special attention to the critical maritime borders and take extra care there, thus helping to prevent potential catastrophic events. Finally, our study can also be used for academic purposes, e.g., in classroom, to demonstrate how to perform a complete Nash equilibrium analysis on some real-world network which has a relatively simple structure.
