Flexural behavior of adhesively bonded cross-laminated timber-concrete composite (TCC) panel with glass-fiber textile mesh as reinforcement in concrete : experimental studying and numerical simulation
Haoze Chen, Wenzhuo Ma, Bohumil Kasal, Wei Yang, Libo Yan, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Timber-concrete composite (TCC) structures offer higher stiffness and loading capacity compared to pure timber structures with similar dimensions. A more rigid adhesive interface between concrete and timber offers advantages over conventional connections (e.g., mechanical fasteners and notches) by ensuring strain compatibility between the two materials. Fiber-based textiles, such as alkali-resistant (AR) glass fiber fabric, provide electrochemical corrosion resistance when used as reinforcement in concrete. An innovative composite floor system was introduced in this study, comprising cross-laminated timber (CLT) and reinforced concrete embedded with lightweight AR glass textile reinforcement, rigidly bonded together through epoxy adhesive bonding. A comprehensive investigation on the flexural behavior of this composite structure panel was conducted. Instrumentation, like digital image correlation (DIC) and optical fiber sensors, was employed to record strain distribution and development during four-point bending tests on those panels. A nonlinear numerical model was developed to predict the flexural behavior of the panels using continuum damage evolution for timber, concrete damage plasticity (CDP) model, and cohesive contact behavior between timber layers, considering the non-glue edge in the transverse layer. Experimental results showed that the failure predominantly occurred in the transverse layer of the CLT in the TCC panels. Employing glass fabric reinforcement within the CLT-constituted TCC led to an increase in loading bearing capacity. Numerical simulation indicated that textile reinforcement embedded within TCC's concrete counteracted localized concrete tensile failure, preserving structural integrity, delaying cohesive failure between planks in CLT, and consequently amplifying ultimate loading capacity of TCC structure.

Tight toughness variant condition for fractional k-factors
Wei Gao, Weifan Wang, Yaojun Chen, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The toughness t(G) of graph G is formalized as the minimum ratio of |S| and ω(G − S) over all vertex subsets S subject to ω(G − S) > 1. As the unique variant parameter of toughness, τ(G) is formulated as the minimum ratio of |S| and ω(G − S) − 1 traversing all the vertex subset S restricted to ω(G − S) ≥ 2. The extant contributions reveal that there is a substantial correlation between toughness and fractional factors. However, there is still a paucity of solid studies on toughness variants τ(G). This work provides several theoretical underpinnings for the tight toughness variant bound for a graph G which admits a fractional k-factor. To be specific, a graph G has a fractional k-factor if τ(G) > k for k ≥ 3 and if τ(G)>3/2 for k = 2. The sharpness of the given bounds is explained by counterexamples.

Bounding s for vertex-primitive s-arc-transitive digraphs of alternating and symmetric groups
Junyan Chen, Lei Chen, Michael Giudici, Jing Jian Li, Cheryl E. Praeger, Binzhou Xia, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Determining an upper bound on s for finite vertex-primitive s-arc-transitive digraphs has received considerable attention dating back to a question of Praeger in 1990. It was shown by Giudici and Xia that the smallest upper bound on s is attained for some digraph admitting an almost simple s-arc-transitive group. In this paper, based on the work of Pan, Wu and Yin, we prove that s<=2 in the case where the group is an alternating or symmetric group.

Integrating AI-driven wearable metaverse technologies into ubiquitous blended learning : a framework based on embodied interaction and multi-agent collaboration
Jiaqi Xu, Xuesong Zhai, Nian-Shing Chen, Usman Ghani, Andreja Istenič, Junyi Xin, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Ubiquitous blended learning, leveraging mobile devices, has democratized education by enabling autonomous and readily accessible knowledge acquisition. However, its reliance on traditional interfaces often limits learner immersion and meaningful interaction. The emergence of the wearable metaverse offers a compelling solution, promising enhanced multisensory experiences and adaptable learning environments that transcend the constraints of conventional ubiquitous learning. This research proposes a novel framework for ubiquitous blended learning in the wearable metaverse, aiming to address critical challenges, such as multi-source data fusion, effective human–computer collaboration, and efficient rendering on resource-constrained wearable devices, through the integration of embodied interaction and multi-agent collaboration. This framework leverages a real-time multi-modal data analysis architecture, powered by the MobileNetV4 and xLSTM neural networks, to facilitate the dynamic understanding of the learner’s context and environment. Furthermore, we introduced a multi-agent interaction model, utilizing CrewAI and spatio-temporal graph neural networks, to orchestrate collaborative learning experiences and provide personalized guidance. Finally, we incorporated lightweight SLAM algorithms, augmented using visual perception techniques, to enable accurate spatial awareness and seamless navigation within the metaverse environment. This innovative framework aims to create immersive, scalable, and cost-effective learning spaces within the wearable metaverse.
