3. Lean manufacturing and return on equity : evidence from Slovenian manufacturing firms using the DuPont modelSandi Povše, Mirko Markič, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Lean manufacturing is widely recognized as an operational philosophy of process improvement; however, its relationship with financial performance remains relatively underexplored empirically. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between lean manufacturing and return on equity (ROE), and to link operational improvements with financial outcomes through the DuPont model. The research comprises a comparative financial analysis of a selected manufacturing company for the period 2019–2023, as well as a quantitative analysis of a sample of 240 Slovenian manufacturing enterprises. Descriptive statistical methods, correlation analysis, and linear regression with a composite lean maturity index were employed. The results indicate that ROE in the analyzed company increased from 4.74% to 11.99%, with growth primarily driven by improvements in net profit margin and process efficiency rather than by increased financial leverage. The empirical analysis demonstrates a statistically significant positive association between the level of lean maturity and ROE (β = 0.255; R² = 0.065; p < 0.001; N = 240). Although the explained variance is moderate, the findings indicate that lean maturity represents a statistically significant and managerially relevant determinant of financial performance within a multifactor business environment. The contribution of the study lies in the integration of the Lean approach with the DuPont model as an analytical bridge between production and financial functions, as well as in the empirical validation of this relationship within the Slovenian industrial context. 4. What do listeners attend to when listening to music? : Toward explainable music recommendationsKosar Seyyedhosseinzadeh, Matevž Pesek, Marko Tkalčič, 2026, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Personalized explanations in recommender systems can be useful when they reflect the aspects of an item that matter to the user. To account for individual preferences regarding different aspects of songs in music recommender systems, it is first necessary to identify which song aspects explain meaningful variation among listeners. This paper introduces a questionnaire instrument designed to operationalize these differences as a measurable user characteristic. The instrument was developed through item generation, expert review, pilot testing, and a main study. Data from the main study ( = 245) were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis to examine the questionnaire’s internal structure. The results supported a two-factor solution, interpreted as Lyric- Engagement and Music-Engagement, with both dimensions showing good internal consistency. These findings suggest that listeners’ orientations toward lyrical and musical elements can be measured in an interpretable way. The contribution of this study lies not in proposing a new explanation algorithm, but in providing an empirical basis for user modeling that may help align explanation content with the song characteristics most relevant to different listeners. 5. PN-SCA : a high generalization and fast profiled SCA based on prototypical networksYu Ou, Yongzhuang Wei, Changhai Ou, Enes Pašalić, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Recently, there has been a growing interest in scenarios that employ a few (imbalanced) power traces for deep learning based side-channel analysis (DL-SCA). Finding a lightweight DL-SCA architecture that is more generalizable and faster to learn is of great importance when handling such situations. In this work, an initial analysis is conducted on the capability of learning and the susceptibility to attacks of prevalent DL-SCA models, focusing on cases that culminate in an unsuccessful attack. Subsequently, a meta-learning technique, known as prototypical networks, is delineated for the construction of a lightweight deep learning framework. In contrast to conventional DL-SCA models, the proposed architecture, designated as PN-SCA, does not predict the probability of a power trace belonging to an intermediate value in classification. Instead, it facilitates the learning of an encoder capable of embedding power consumption data within a latent space, while also establishing templates, or prototypes, for diverse categories. Moreover, we developed a metric that is specifically intended for the selection of hyperparameters due to the unique training phase of PN-SCA. Finally, four distinct scenarios are established with few (including one imbalanced) power traces to evaluate the correctness of our architecture. The results clearly illustrate the advantages of our PN-SCA in terms of generalization, reduced training costs (with a decrease in profiling traces by over 50%), and significantly enhanced attack effect (with a reduction of power traces requirements by over 90%), thus demonstrating notable improvements over existing methodologies Ključne besede: side-channel analysis, deep learning based SCA, prototypical networks, few-shot learning Objavljeno v RUP: 20.05.2026; Ogledov: 382; Prenosov: 11

7. Social Innovation at Universities : Mapping Roles, Research Content Directions, Challenges and ImplicationsDesislava Yordanova, Simona Kustec, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Social innovation has emerged as a transformative paradigm as well as a potential solution for addressing complex societal challenges, be it from the issues of inequality, better living conditions, to climate change, and digitalisation. However, despite the growing academic as well as also political attention, its theoretical framing and institutional embedding remain fragmented. Universities, through their roles as knowledge producers, educators, and civic actors, hold one of the central and unique positions in shaping social innovation ecosystems. This article explores how universities can contribute to social innovation, what institutional and systemic barriers limit their engagement, and how they can strategically integrate social innovation within their missions. Combining bibliometric analysis and qualitative synthesis, this paper maps the evolution of research on this topic, identifies key conceptual trends, and outlines pathways for future orientations. The findings reveal that while universities act as important catalysts for societal transformation, their systemic impact remains constrained by structural and also political inertia. The paper concludes with recommendations on how to strengthen social innovation capacities of the universities roles and missions for social innovation. 8. The Roman Urbanisation of the Northern Adriatic Island of Cres : Re-Evaluation of Archaeological Sources from Osor, Cres and BeliNives Doneus, Andreja Sironić, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article examines the question of Roman urbanisation on the island of Cres during the early imperial period. It seeks to balance the markedly different levels of research conducted at Osor, Cres, and Beli, evaluating them impartially. This re-evaluation is based on the principle that considering inscriptions, architecture, and landscape context together provides a more comprehensive understanding of Roman urban development than treating these categories separately. Adopting this approach has improved understanding of the available archaeological evidence. At the same time, it has revealed that perceptions of the Roman towns on Cres are influenced more by the state of research than most scholars would admit. The contribution of archaeological prospection methods and the dating of historical mortar are also discussed. Due to the very different post-Roman historical trajectories and natural conditions at each site, a wide range of results has been observed. The findings confirm that Osor was the Roman centre of Cres and that the inscription CIL III 3148 (10131) most likely originates from there. The location of the potential Roman settlement of Crexi remains unknown. No evidence was found to support the existence of an early imperial town at Beli. Instead, the dating of the city wall mortar indicates a settlement phase in late Antiquity. 9. Co-Creation and Destination Image : A Bibliometric and Thematic Analysis Using CiteSpaceTuyen Tran, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Co-creation has gained increasing scholarly attention as an approach for involving tourists, residents, and stakeholders in shaping destination image. However, existing research is fragmented, lacking an integrated review of its conceptual foundations, thematic evolution, and implications. This study aims to address this gap by mapping the intellectual structure and emerging trends of co-creation and destination images. A bibliometric and thematic analysis was conducted on 72 peer-reviewed publications indexed in Scopus, using CiteSpace for co-citation and keyword co-occurrence mapping, complemented by Scopus AI for trend identification. The analysis revealed four thematic clusters: destination branding, stakeholder engagement, emotional experience, and digital interaction. Results demonstrate that co-creation operates as a multidimensional, layered process, enhancing emotional attachment, destination loyalty, and brand value, rather than a single experiential design activity. The study concludes that co-creation plays a structurally significant role in destination branding and stakeholder engagement, as demonstrated by the dominant clusters in the bibliometric and thematic analyses. By synthesising existing knowledge and identifying research gaps, this paper offers a comprehensive reference for academics and practitioners, reinforcing the relevance of co-creation in destination management. 10. A Bibliometric Perspective on Health, Medical, and Wellness Tourism Research : Trends, Themes, and Future DirectionsTayfun Arar, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Although medical tourism, wellness tourism, and health tourism have expanded significantly in recent decades, research has often addressed them separately, limiting comprehensive understanding of their shared development, particularly in response to global health disruptions. This study addresses that gap by conducting a unified bibliometric analysis that maps the thematic evolution, intellectual foundations, and collaboration patterns across health-oriented tourism. A total of 1,717 peer-reviewed articles published between 1974 and 2025 were retrieved through title-based searches from Scopus and Web of Science. Data were cleaned, merged, and analysed using the Biblioshiny 4.0 platform, with performance metrics, co-occurrence networks, thematic mapping, and international collaboration examined. The study also compares recent patterns with earlier bibliometric research to assess the continuity and divergence in the field’s development. The analysis yields three key findings. First, academic interest surged post-2010, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. Second, thematic clusters show a shift from treatment-focused medical tourism/health tourism toward wellness, mental health, and preventive care, suggesting a broader emphasis on proactive well-being. Third, co-authorship analysis reveals regionally concentrated networks with limited integration between Global North and South researchers. Theoretically, the study contributes to the Push-Pull Theory of Travel Motivation by integrating health-specific drivers such as affordability, safety, risk perception, and psychological well-being. It also adds to crisis-sensitive tourism literature by linking global disruptions to evolving motivational structures. Practically, the findings provide actionable insights for policymakers and destination managers seeking to align services with shifting post-pandemic traveller priorities and to reposition health-focused destinations in a more resilient global tourism economy.
