1. The Roman Urbanisation of the Northern Adriatic Island of Cres : Re-Evaluation of Archaeological Sources from Osor, Cres and BeliNives Doneus, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article examines the question of Roman urbanisation on the island of Cres during the early imperial period. It seeks to balance the markedly different levels of research conducted at Osor, Cres, and Beli, evaluating them impartially. This re-evaluation is based on the principle that considering inscriptions, architecture, and landscape context together provides a more comprehensive understanding of Roman urban development than treating these categories separately. Adopting this approach has improved understanding of the available archaeological evidence. At the same time, it has revealed that perceptions of the Roman towns on Cres are influenced more by the state of research than most scholars would admit. The contribution of archaeological prospection methods and the dating of historical mortar are also discussed. Due to the very different post-Roman historical trajectories and natural conditions at each site, a wide range of results has been observed. The findings confirm that Osor was the Roman centre of Cres and that the inscription CIL III 3148 (10131) most likely originates from there. The location of the potential Roman settlement of Crexi remains unknown. No evidence was found to support the existence of an early imperial town at Beli. Instead, the dating of the city wall mortar indicates a settlement phase in late Antiquity. 2. Co-Creation and Destination Image : A Bibliometric and Thematic Analysis Using CiteSpaceTuyen Tran, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Co-creation has gained increasing scholarly attention as an approach for involving tourists, residents, and stakeholders in shaping destination image. However, existing research is fragmented, lacking an integrated review of its conceptual foundations, thematic evolution, and implications. This study aims to address this gap by mapping the intellectual structure and emerging trends of co-creation and destination images. A bibliometric and thematic analysis was conducted on 72 peer-reviewed publications indexed in Scopus, using CiteSpace for co-citation and keyword co-occurrence mapping, complemented by Scopus AI for trend identification. The analysis revealed four thematic clusters: destination branding, stakeholder engagement, emotional experience, and digital interaction. Results demonstrate that co-creation operates as a multidimensional, layered process, enhancing emotional attachment, destination loyalty, and brand value, rather than a single experiential design activity. The study concludes that co-creation plays a structurally significant role in destination branding and stakeholder engagement, as demonstrated by the dominant clusters in the bibliometric and thematic analyses. By synthesising existing knowledge and identifying research gaps, this paper offers a comprehensive reference for academics and practitioners, reinforcing the relevance of co-creation in destination management. 3. A Bibliometric Perspective on Health, Medical, and Wellness Tourism Research : Trends, Themes, and Future DirectionsTayfun Arar, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Although medical tourism, wellness tourism, and health tourism have expanded significantly in recent decades, research has often addressed them separately, limiting comprehensive understanding of their shared development, particularly in response to global health disruptions. This study addresses that gap by conducting a unified bibliometric analysis that maps the thematic evolution, intellectual foundations, and collaboration patterns across health-oriented tourism. A total of 1,717 peer-reviewed articles published between 1974 and 2025 were retrieved through title-based searches from Scopus and Web of Science. Data were cleaned, merged, and analysed using the Biblioshiny 4.0 platform, with performance metrics, co-occurrence networks, thematic mapping, and international collaboration examined. The study also compares recent patterns with earlier bibliometric research to assess the continuity and divergence in the field’s development. The analysis yields three key findings. First, academic interest surged post-2010, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. Second, thematic clusters show a shift from treatment-focused medical tourism/health tourism toward wellness, mental health, and preventive care, suggesting a broader emphasis on proactive well-being. Third, co-authorship analysis reveals regionally concentrated networks with limited integration between Global North and South researchers. Theoretically, the study contributes to the Push-Pull Theory of Travel Motivation by integrating health-specific drivers such as affordability, safety, risk perception, and psychological well-being. It also adds to crisis-sensitive tourism literature by linking global disruptions to evolving motivational structures. Practically, the findings provide actionable insights for policymakers and destination managers seeking to align services with shifting post-pandemic traveller priorities and to reposition health-focused destinations in a more resilient global tourism economy. 4. Isogeometric collocation with smooth mixed degree splines over planar multi-patch domainsMario Kapl, Aljaž Kosmač, Vito Vitrih, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: We present a novel isogeometric collocation method for solving the Poisson’s and the biharmonic equation over planar bilinearly parameterized multi-patch geometries. The proposed approach relies on the use of a modified construction of the Cs-smooth mixed degree isogeometric spline space [1] for s=2 and s=4 in case of the Poisson’s and the biharmonic equation, respectively. The adapted spline space possesses the minimal possible degree p=s+1 everywhere on the multi-patch domain except in a small neighborhood of the inner edges and of the vertices of patch valency greater than one where a degree p=2s+1 is required. This allows to solve the PDEs with a much lower number of degrees of freedom compared to employing the Cs-smooth spline space [2] with the same high degree p=2s+1 everywhere. To perform isogeometric collocation with the smooth mixed degree spline functions, we introduce and study two different sets of collocation points, namely first a generalization of the standard Grevile points to the set of mixed degree Greville points and second the so-called mixed degree superconvergent points. The collocation method is further extended to the class of bilinear-like Gs multi-patch parameterizations [3], which enables the modeling of multi-patch domains with curved boundaries, and is finally tested on the basis of several numerical examples. 5. Image-based analysis of tourist destination perceptions : a deep learning and spatial–temporal study in SloveniaDejan Paliska, Aleksandra Brezovec, Gorazd Sedmak, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In the context of fierce competition among tourist destinations and increasing difficulty of differentiation, developing a strong destination image is particularly important. A comprehensive understanding of how tourists perceive destinations through user-generated images can help destination management organizations (DMOs) design more effective marketing strategies. This is especially relevant for destinations with spatially and temporally dispersed tourism resources and strong seasonal dynamics. This paper analyses inbound tourist photographs by combining deep learning techniques with spatial analysis to examine the spatial and temporal distribution of photo scenes and shifts in scene preferences among tourists. The study focuses on three distinct types of destinations in Slovenia—urban (Ljubljana), nature-based/alpine (Bled), and coastal (Piran, Izola, Koper)—providing insights into how image-based spatial scene analysis can inform destination marketing strategies. The results reveal significant spatial and temporal heterogeneity of scenes across micro destinations. Nature-based destinations exhibit lower topic entropy and fewer topic changes per user, whereas urban destinations show higher variability, with users changing topics on average five times per day. Seasonal effects are moderate: nature-based destinations display lower topic entropy in winter and higher in autumn and spring, coastal destinations show less pronounced seasonal variation, and urban destinations show almost none. These findings provide valuable insights into the spatial and temporal distribution of tourist interests and offer practical guidance for DMOs in strategic marketing planning. 6. Second homes as an interdisciplinary research topic : a COBISS system based analysis of diploma theses in the Slovenian tertiary educationMiha Koderman, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article examines second homes as an interdisciplinary research topic by situating them within contemporary conceptualisations of second homes as enduring socio-spatial phenomena through a systematic analysis of the diploma theses in the Slovenian tertiary education. The study, based on a COBISS database, identified 64 students’ bachelor's and master's theses and doctoral dissertations that focus on the topic of second homes. Most of these theses could be classified into six disciplinary domains: architecture and landscape architecture (20), construction–energy technology–geodesy (13), geography (10), design and interior design (9), economy and tourism (5), and ethnology and cultural anthropology (3). The publication of the theses spans over more than four decades, demonstrating the long-term continuity and evolving thematic diversity of second-home research, while the research reveals that second homes represent one of the most enduring, diverse, and interdisciplinary topics. Geography has played a pioneering and sustaining role, providing conceptual and methodological foundations for understanding second homes as spatial processes linked to leisure mobility, landscape transformation, and tourism development, which have influenced research in other disciplines.
