Optimizing Product Catalogue Design : A Comparative Study of Traditional Photography and 3D Modeling
Simon Kolmanič, Jan Hrašar, Štefan Horvat, Domen Mongus, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: This study examines the replacement of traditional studio photography with a 3D modelling and rendering workflow in product catalogue production. Using the case of Urnes, a manufacturer of wooden urns, we compared the two approaches in terms of time, cost, and visual fidelity. The 3D pipeline, combining Blender, Substance 3D Painter, and InDesign, reduced preparation time per variation from 179 minutes to 36 minutes—a 4.9-fold improvement. After an initial 50-hour setup, subsequent catalogue updates achieved time savings of 97.6%. An informal interview with 38 professional users confirmed that 3D renderings matched or exceeded photographs in colour and texture accuracy. Results demonstrate that 3D workflows significantly lower production costs, accelerate updates, and support product personalisation, positioning them as a sustainable alternative to photography in catalogue design.

On cubic vertex-transitive graphs of given girth
Edward Tauscher Dobson, Ademir Hujdurović, Wilfried Imrich, Ronald Ortner, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: A set of vertices of a graph is distinguishing if the only automorphism that preserves it is the identity. The minimal size of such sets, if they exist, is the distinguishing cost. The distinguishing costs of vertex transitive cubic graphs are well known if they are 1-arc-transitive, or if they have two edge orbits and either have girth 3 or vertex-stabilizers of order 1 or 2. There are many results about vertex-transitive cubic graphs of girth 4 with two edge orbits, but for larger girth almost nothing is known about the distinguishing costs of such graphs. We prove that cubic vertex-transitive graphs of girth 5 with two edge orbits have distinguishing cost 2, and prove the non-existence of infinite 3-arc-transitive cubic graphs of girth 6.

Population ageing and labour market in Slovenia and European Union
Tomaž Kofalt, Žiga Čepar, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In this paper we investigate the influence and importance of population ageing for labour market. Particularly we focus on unemployment, salaries and population education level. After reviewing some of the previous research on the influence of demographic ageing on labour market, we set three hypotheses, referring to the three above mentioned specific aspects of labour market, which were tested using multivariate regression analysis. Based on demographic and socio-economic panel data on Slovenian municipalities, we separately tested the three hypotheses in case of Slovenia; and using panel data on European Union countries we separately tested the three hypotheses in case of European Union and compared the results. Based on data for Slovenia and European Union we found out that population ageing increases unemployment and decreases population education level, however in case of analysis of salaries the results are somehow ambiguous.

A balanced scorecard-based model for evaluating e-learning and conventional pedagogical activities in nursing
Tomaž Hovelja, Damjan Vavpotič, Boštjan Žvanut, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The evaluation of e-learning and conventional pedagogical activities in nursing programmes has focused either on a single pedagogical activity or the entire curriculum, and only on students or teachers' perspective. The goal of this study was to design and test a novel approach for evaluation of e-learning and conventional pedagogical activities that considers students', teachers' and managers' perspectives. A case study of the proposed approach was performed at a publicly funded nursing faculty with Slovenian and Italian students from 2009 to 2012. The case study was combined with focus group discussions, interviews, direct observation and survey. The proposed approach allows management to compare the value of different pedagogical activities through the students', teachers' and managers' perspectives. The approach proved useful in the evaluation of pedagogical activities and provided valid arguments for long-term pedagogical process improvement
