Managing projects in large companies – project success factors in the crisis and post crisis period : evidence from Serbia and Slovenia
Dragan Lj. Bjelica, Marko Mihić, Dušan Gošnik, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper investigates project success factors (SF) and project success criteria (SC) in large firms and aims to identify which contribute the most to project success. The results of this study are based on a survey of large firms in Slovenia and Serbia. A sample of 175 large firms is included. The Mann-Whitney test was used to compare groups across countries and between the COVID-19 and post COVID-19 periods. A comparison study of project SF and SC between the period of COVID-19 crisis and post COVID-19 is presented. Findings suggest a high degree of alignment between both countries: both prioritise user appreciation as the most important project SC and clear goals and objectives were identified as the most critical project SF. The results also show that a well-defined project management process is the most critical factor for successful project implementation. Project managers were constantly the most dominant decision makers on projects during and after the COVID-19 period. Analysis shows no significant differences between project SF and SF during and after the COVID-19 period, indicating that large companies are resilient in managing project success.

Adaptation Strategies of Small Farms in Short Food Supply Chains during the Pandemic and Post-Pandemic Crisis : A Case Study from the Czech Republic
Eliška Svobodová, Kristina Somerlíková, Ivo Zdráhal, Libor Grega, 2015, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: The Short Food Supply Chain (SFSC) strategy offers an alternative to conventional (long) food supply chains. It can be an effective strategy for small farmers to establish closer connections with consumers. This closer proximity to consumers allows for faster strategic decision-making and actions on consumer needs. SFSCs are also praised for their contribution to sustainable economic, social, and environmental development. The policies of the European Union also endorse the SFSC model. Small farms constitute a significant share of the total number of farms in the Czech Republic and play important social roles in rural areas. In 2020, the Czech Republic had a total of 28,910 farms, comprising 16,000 farms (55.3%) with an area of less than 20 hectares. The pandemic and subsequent postpandemic crisis affected the entire Czech economy and firms in all sectors. Farmers in SFSCs had to find ways to deal with such a disruptive event. The article aims to evaluate farmers' perceptions of the impact of the pandemic and post-pandemic crisis on the functioning of SFSCs and their impact on farming operations, as well as to discuss the adaptation strategies of small farms in SFSCs in the Czech Republic during the recent crisis period. The article answers two questions: 1) How did the pandemic and post-pandemic crisis affect the functioning of SFSCs and farming operations in the Czech Republic? and 2) What adaptation strategies did small farms in SFSCs in the Czech Republic use during the pandemic and post-pandemic crisis? The data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with 73 small farmers involved in SFSCs in the Czech Republic during the years 2024 and 2025 and were analysed using statistical methods. Results indicate that, despite farmers’ perception of the impact of the crisis on their farming operations, their perception was rather negative. In the case of the functioning of SFSCs during the crisis period, their perception was slightly more positive than negative. The reason is that farmers in SFSC often implemented strategies to cope with the situation, e.g. by improving their online sales, e-shops, and social media presence. We argue that changes in marketing practices during the crisis period will enable farmers to improve their SFSC operations in the future.

Methodology of an aircraft accident response system assessment
Franc Željko Županič, Maja Meško, Iztok Podbregar, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The paper investigates the ability to learn from an aircraft accident as the opportunities for learning diminish with the decline in the accident rate. A safety compromising case is studied as the processes of aircraft accident intervention and recovery can degrade the ability of an aircraft accident investigation process to enhance aviation safety by revealing accident causation. In the case study an assessment of the Slovenian aircraft accident response system was made. For the purpose of evaluating the successfulness of aircraft accident intervention and effectiveness of recovery, a model of aircraft accident response system requirements has been developed. Based on non-conformances identified by the model of requirements, remedial measures are proposed for the enhancement of the aircraft accident response system operation. Criteria for the definition of the transition from accident intervention to recovery are derived from the assessment findings in a manner not to impede the aircraft accident investigation effectiveness and efficiency.

Human resources in a draught : how managers construed the role and meaning of human resource management during the 2008 economic crisis in Slovenia
Ana Arzenšek, Kristijan Musek Lešnik, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: An empirical study of interpretive schemas regarding human resource management (HRM) and its social responsibility of selected manufacturers in the automotive industry and of financial institutions is presented. We were interested in how participants interpreted the role of the HRM department during the economic crisis of 2008. It was assumed that HRM is subjected to increased accommodation processes during economic turbulence. Interpretive schemas regarding HRM of three selected manufacturers in the automotive industry and of three financial institutions from Slovenia were studied. Over a three-year period, 31 interviews with their management, HRM, and union representatives were conducted. In addition, content analysis of annual reports was made. The results have shown that the current crisis has not yet been a factor of diminished roles and meaning of HRM. While the manufacturing companies are considerably homogeneous in their scope of adjustments to the crisis, the financial companies considerably differ from each other regarding their scope of activities and are going through schema change. Factors, discovered in this study, add to the knowledge framework of successful HRM change and explain levels of social responsibility towards employees working in the companies.
