1. Exploring cultural competence among healthcare professionals in Slovenia : a cross-sectional studyEsmina Softić, Mirko Prosen, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Aim: The aim of this study was to examine the cultural competence of healthcare professionals, with the aim of developing educational content on cultural competence in healthcare. Design: A quantitative descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design. Methods: The Slovenian version of the Cultural Competence Assessment Tool (CCATool) was administered to 404 participants representing various healthcare professions. Results: The results showed that most participants (96.2%) demonstrated cultural awareness, with significantly above-average scores across all domains (p < 0.001), while only 2.3% achieved full cultural competence and 1.5% were classified as culturally incompetent, with none achieving cultural safety. Conclusion: Incorporating cultural competency training into educational programs can significantly improve the quality of health services, help reduce health disparities, strengthen awareness of cultural diversity, and promote effective functioning in multicultural environments. 2. Factors influencing sustainability attitudes in higher educationAjda Fošner, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The aim of this study is to analyse sustainability attitudes among university students in Slovenia and how two different academic variables influence these attitudes. Using the Sustainability Attitudes Scale (SAS), we investigate the effects of students’ field and level of study on their attitudes towards sustainability. ANOVA results show that the field of study significantly impacts sustainability attitudes, while we can not say the same for the level of study. Moreover, findings from Spearman’s rank correlation tests indicate a positive correlation between students’ sustainability knowledge and their attitudes, highlighting the potential of targeted educational programs to foster more positive attitudes towards sustainable practices. This study contributes valuable insights for developing more effective sustainability education strategies within similar contexts. Ključne besede: sustainability attitude, Sustainability Attitudes Scale (SAS), higher educational institutions Objavljeno v RUP: 10.07.2026; Ogledov: 452; Prenosov: 11

4. ICT use in early childhood education from parents’ and educators’ perspectivesNina Krmac, Petra Furlan, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The study aimed to investigate the use of information and communication technology (ICT) by pre-school children as perceived by parents and educators. By analyzing the perceptions of both groups, we wanted to understand how frequently and in what context ICT is used in children's daily lives and in the educational process. The results showed that educators use ICT only occasionally, typically a few times a year, while parents reported a much higher average weekly use of ICT by children. Statistical analyses revealed significant differences in how parents and educators perceive the impact of ICT on children's development, particularly in the areas of knowledge, creativity, and originality, with educators rating the developmental potential of ICT higher. The most commonly used technology among preschool children was television, followed by smartphones, tablets and computers. The discussion also highlighted differences in the use of applications and emphasized the need for greater professional support in the selection and use of ICT for children's development. 5. Social robots disruptive artificial intelligence educational technology : pre-service teachers’ perceptions in China, Russia and SloveniaAndreja Istenič, Liliya Latypova, Violeta Rosanda, Žiga Turk, Roza Alexeyevna Valeeva, Xuesong Zhai, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Artificial intelligence transforms human learning and education. Social robots in the elementary classroom enter the human sphere in the critical period of child’s development. Social robotic educational technology, designed for long-term emotional connections and relationships, raises questions in the pedagogic relations and interaction. Research on teacher perceptions and readiness is deficient. This paper reports analyses of aspects of child-social robot interaction are of concern to pre-service teachers from China, Russia and Slovenia. Findings indicate that at the heart of participating pre-service teachers in China, Russia and Slovania concerns are authenticity and humanness. Our findings show their concerns are mainly rooted in the belief that the robot shouldnot acquire the ability to perform authentic interactions nor should undertake a teaching roles. There is a widespread agreement among participants from three cultural contexts that teachers remain essential in educational contexts. In contrast, concerns related to social Interaction indicate notable group differences. The article highlights the teacher’s responsible planning and use of artificial intelligence educational technology. 6. Implementation of the Science on a Sphere Visualization System as a Web ApplicationJurij Anžič, Ciril Bohak, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: SOS is a visualization system originally developed by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to project dynamic global datasets onto a spherical display, enabling audiences to explore complex Earth system processes in an intuitive and immersive way. While highly efective in museums, science centers, and classrooms, the traditional Science on a Sphere (SoS) hardware installation requires dedicated infrastructure, limiting its accessibility and scalability. This paper presents the design and implementation of a web-based application that reproduces the core functionality of the Science on a Sphere (SoS) system in a browser environment. The application utilizes modern web technologies to render real-time spherical visualizations of global datasets. Users can load, manipulate, and interact with datasets such as atmospheric phenomena, ocean currents, or planetary imagery without the need for specialized hardware. The system also supports interactive controls for rotating, zooming, and overlaying multiple data layers, extending the pedagogical potential of Science on a Sphere (SoS) by enabling personal exploration on laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. By transitioning Science on a Sphere (SoS) from a physical installation to a lightweight, browser-based platform, the proposed solution broadens access to scientific visualizations, promotes remote and classroom learning, and ensures that Science on a Sphere (SoS) content can be integrated into modern online education ecosystems. 7. STEAM Education for an Innovative Approach to Sustainability : Perspectives of Future Preschool Educators and TeachersSanja Partalo, Nevena Vučen Papić, Dragana Malivuk Gak, Dino Hasanagić, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: Modern education is increasingly viewed through the lens of sustainable development, with a focus on pedagogical practices that foster competent, creative, and socially responsible individuals. The STEAM approach integrates science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics to foster creativity, critical thinking, and transdisciplinary problem-solving among learners. This approach directly contributes to education for sustainable development by enhancing the quality of education, gender equality, and innovation. The paper explores teacher education students’ awareness of STEAM, their attitudes toward its use, and their readiness to apply it in future teaching. A qualitative study was conducted through focus groups with students from various teacher education programmes (natural sciences, social sciences, and arts). Students’ attitudes were analysed, and the perceived benefits, obstacles, and needs for additional support in the implementation of STEAM were identified. The results reveal limited formal education about STEAM, but also a strong motivation among students to apply this approach, particularly in contexts that foster innovation, inclusion, and the connection of theoretical knowledge with real-life situations. Identified challenges include a lack of practical training, insufficient institutional support, and limited resources. Participants highlighted the need for greater integration of STEAM-related content in university curricula. In conclusion, the findings underline the necessity of systemic integration of STEAM education in teacher and preschool educator training programmes, as a key factor in developing sustainable educational practices. Supporting future teachers and educators in acquiring competencies for transdisciplinary learning and innovative teaching may be crucial for advancing education for sustainable development.
