1. General interaction battery : simple object navigation and affordances (GIBSONA)Danaja Rutar, Alva Markelius, Wout Schellaert, José Hernández-Orallo, Lucy Cheke, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Perception of affordances is an agent’s capability to identify what action-possibilities exist with a particular object or set of objects, based on its own physical properties and capacities. This capability has been well explored in psychology because perception of affordances provides the basis for understanding and interacting with the world. For the same reason, affordance perception is also crucial for AI research. Most approaches to evaluating AI are task-oriented which means that they are geared towards evaluating aggregate performance on a specific set of tasks, rather than focusing on the nature and degree of underlying capabilities that drive task performance. An alternative approach to measuring performance in AI is capability-oriented evaluation, which aims to measure robust, task-independent capabilities across different conditions and difficulties. This approach allows not only measurement of performance but also prediction of performance on novel challenges that share the same fundamental demands. In the context of affordances, there are currently no clear guidelines as to how such capability-oriented approach should best be implemented; for example, there is much variation in what perception of affordances entails. Perhaps for this reason, no comprehensive battery of affordances tasks for AI currently exists. Building on this gap, the aims of this paper are to first, lay out some candidate guidelines for the construction of capability-oriented task batteries for embodied AI and second, to construct and present a battery GIBSONA that takes a step towards this goal: Assessing perception of a set of affordances in AI, directly following these guidelines. 2. A systematic review and evaluation of measurement instruments assessing the needs, wellbeing, and living environments of older adultsMateja Erce Paoli, Dean Lipovac, Michael David Burnard, 2025, pregledni znanstveni članek Opis: Understanding the built environment’s impact on older adults’ wellbeing necessitates the identification of high-quality measures that capture environmental properties, wellbeing, and needs. Literature searches were conducted to identify instruments that measure (a) objective environmental properties, (b) wellbeing, (c) needs, and (d) environmental perception, which were evaluated using the COSMIN checklist. Another literature search was conducted to explore which instruments are used in studies examining objective and perceived qualities of the environment in relation to wellbeing. Of the 54 instruments evaluated, most showed strong content or construct validity, but weak or unreported test-retest reliability. Structural validity and internal consistency tended to be satisfactory in instruments assessing wellbeing and the intersection of environment and wellbeing. Instruments evaluating needs and the perceived environment generally had poor results in our evaluation. Our review of studies assessing both perceived and objective built environments alongside wellbeing indicates a lack of consistent use of validated instruments for older adult populations. We have identified instruments in each category with mostly sufficient psychometric properties, while the rest require improvement, particularly in terms of structural validity and reliability. Environment evaluation instruments mainly focus on outdoor spaces, leaving indoor spaces underrepresented in literature. 3. Assessing the economic effects of agri-environmental schemes on farm input useImre Fertő, Štefan Bojnec, 2025, objavljeni povzetek znanstvenega prispevka na konferenci (vabljeno predavanje) Opis: . This study assesses the economic impacts of agri-environmental schemes (AES) on farm-level input expenditures, particularly fertilizers, crop protection products, and energy, in Hungary from 2014 to 2020. Employing advanced econometric methodologies, including Synthetic Difference-inDifferences (SDID), Synthetic Control (SC), and traditional Difference-in-Differences (DiD), the analysis addresses the complex challenges posed by staggered AES adoption and significant farm-level heterogeneity. The findings indicate no statistically significant overall change in expenditures for fertilizers, crop protection, and energy. Nonetheless, detailed temporal analysis reveals nuanced dynamics. During the initial phases of AES implementation, transitional inefficiencies are evident, indicating adaptation challenges and associated costs as farmers adjust to new environmental requirements. These initial costs stem from administrative burdens, the need for training, and investments in sustainable practices such as precision agriculture and integrated pest management (IPM). Over subsequent years, the results exhibit stabilization or slight increases in input expenditures rather than substantial cost savings. Such trends suggest that while AES may encourage environmentally sustainable farming practices, the expected economic benefits from reduced inputs—due to input substitution or increased efficiency—may not be immediate or uniformly achievable. Indeed, more precise and environmentally-friendly alternatives to traditional chemical inputs, despite their ecological advantages, can incur higher short-term costs. Further analysis highlights considerable heterogeneity in AES impacts across different farm sizes and adoption timing. Larger, more technologically advanced farms display a relatively smaller incremental cost increase, benefiting from economies of scale and superior resource access, yet these differences are minor and statistically inconclusive. Early adopters, defined as farms participating in AES from the scheme’s initial stages, showed no systematic economic advantage or disadvantage compared to later adopters, indicating a consistent adaptation pattern across all participating farms. Robustness checks, including random treatment falsification tests and analyses on never-treated farms, reinforce the credibility of the findings, affirming that observed AES impacts genuinely reflect causal relationships rather than selection biases or confounding factors. The study concludes that the complex interplay between policy design, farm structure, market dynamics, and adaptation processes can obscure immediate economic outcomes. Therefore, it underscores the need for more tailored AES interventions that consider farm-specific constraints, transitional costs, and longterm adaptation dynamics. Additionally, integrating broader sustainability indicators—biodiversity, soil quality, and resilience metrics—could yield a more comprehensive evaluation of AES efficacy. This research contributes important empirical evidence to ongoing discussions regarding the economic viability and environmental effectiveness of AES within diverse agricultural landscapes. Policymakers are encouraged to account for initial adaptation phases, support targeted technological and management innovations, and embrace regionally customized strategies to optimize both ecological and economic outcomes of AES policies. 9. Investments in human capital : the case of Slovene micro companiesFranko Milost, Matic Novak, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Investments in human capital (employees) include investments in the direct assurance of working abilities, investments in health and well-being and investments in loyalty to the company. These investments are crucial for the long-term existence and development of a company, but their value is not disclosed on the assets side of the classical balance sheet. The most important argument given by the proponents of this approach is that the economic benefits stemming from such investments are uncertain. However, investments in human capital are those with the highest long-term benefits for the company. Therefore, human capital is the only element of the business process that can add value. Other elements (means of production, materials and services) just transfer their value to products and services. This paper discusses the elements of investments in human capital and the methods used to evaluate these investments. This is followed by the impact that treatment of investments in employees in classical accounting has on the true and fair view of financial statements. And finally, results of the research dealing with investments in employees in Slovene micro companies are presented. 10. A balanced scorecard-based model for evaluating e-learning and conventional pedagogical activities in nursingTomaž Hovelja, Damjan Vavpotič, Boštjan Žvanut, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The evaluation of e-learning and conventional pedagogical activities in nursing programmes has focused either on a single pedagogical activity or the entire curriculum, and only on students or teachers' perspective. The goal of this study was to design and test a novel approach for evaluation of e-learning and conventional pedagogical activities that considers students', teachers' and managers' perspectives. A case study of the proposed approach was performed at a publicly funded nursing faculty with Slovenian and Italian students from 2009 to 2012. The case study was combined with focus group discussions, interviews, direct observation and survey. The proposed approach allows management to compare the value of different pedagogical activities through the students', teachers' and managers' perspectives. The approach proved useful in the evaluation of pedagogical activities and provided valid arguments for long-term pedagogical process improvement Ključne besede: evaluation, curriculum, cost-effectivness, e-learning Objavljeno v RUP: 14.10.2015; Ogledov: 5361; Prenosov: 234
