1. Serious Digital Game-Based Learning in Nursing Education : Empowering Students for Clinical CompetenceBetül Tosun, Ayla Yava, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: The evolution of technology in the era of digital transformation has significantly impacted the landscape of healthcare education, ushering in a paradigm shift in the way knowledge is imparted. This shift, accelerated by the imperative for online learning due to disruptions in traditional, in-person education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has compelled nursing educators to revamp existing curricula. Amidst these changes, digital educational applications, notably serious games, have gained prominence. Serious games are interactive computer applications designed with the aim of imparting specific learning objectives to players. Featuring challenging goals, engaging design, and scoring systems, serious games are believed to motivate students and aid in goal achievement. While the popularity of serious games in healthcare education is on the rise, their usage in nursing education has generally shown positive outcomes. This review aims to evaluate mobile-based serious games on the clinical competency development of undergraduate nursing students. 2. Digital technology in healthcare : enhancing education and patient careMateja Lorber, Lucija Gosak, Gregor Štiglic, Adrijana Svenšek, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: The implementation of digital tools, systems, and technologies in healthcare improves education, lowers the risk of errors, and enables the provision of comprehensive, high-quality care to patients. Our study analyzed healthcare students’ comprehension and viewpoints on the use of digital technologies in their education and practice. We aim to investigate how healthcare students are educated about digital technology’s potential applications during their studies and in clinical practice. Healthcare students provided several practical illustrations of digital technology employment, including e-health records, documentation access, diagnoses, electronic medical records, and mobile health. These examples effectively demonstrate improved communication between healthcare professionals, streamlined data analysis and management, and better patient monitoring. Although digital technology brings significant benefits to healthcare education, students remain mindful of the challenges it poses. We assert that digital technology is essential for improving the quality of healthcare education and providing comprehensive, evidence-based patient care. 3. Qualitative content analysis of COVID-19’s role in suicide attempts leading to hospital careMartina Mravlja, Anthony Pisani R., Annamarie Bailey, Nicola Meda, Alexandre Paim-Diaz, Kristina Zurich, Kenneth Conner, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Introduction: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on suicide risk has been documented during the acute phase, but less is known about people who attempted suicide during the post-acute period. This study investigates how adults who attempted suicide during the post-acute pandemic period (2021–2023) understood COVID-19’s role in their attempt. Method: We analyzed interview data from 329 adults (59% female; 41% male), enrolled following a recent suicide attempt between 2021 and 2023. Participants were asked about the general impact of COVID-19 on their lives and then specifically about whether stress related to COVID-19 was a primary reason for their attempt or contributed to their suicidal thoughts. Results: When asked about their recent attempt, 11% of participants identified stress related to COVID-19 as the primary reason for their attempt, and an additional 23% indicated it contributed to their suicidal thoughts. When describing general impacts, participants reported effects across multiple domains: social isolation, physical health concerns, mental health impacts, and economic effects. Discussion: The attribution of suicide attempts to COVID-19-related stress during the post-acute period highlights the extended impact of public health crises on vulnerable individuals. These findings emphasize the need for sustained, integrated medical and mental healthcare following such crises. 4. Maternal satisfaction with childbirth and its implications for maternity care quality : a cross-sectional studyMirko Prosen, Sabina Ličen, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Aim Satisfaction with childbirth is a key indicator of the quality of maternity care and influences maternal well-being and future reproductive choices. The aim of this study was to assess maternal satisfaction with the childbirth experience and examine factors contributing to positive and negative perceptions. Subject and methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 555 postpartum women in Slovenia. The study used an online survey to explore women's satisfaction with their childbirth experience within one year after giving birth. The Women’s Views of Birth Labour Satisfaction Questionnaire (WOMBLSQ) was culturally adapted and validated for use in the Slovenian context. Data were analysed using descriptive and comparative non-parametric statistical methods to examine satisfaction levels and differences across demographic and obstetric variables. Results Overall, women reported a high level of satisfaction with their childbirth experience (M=4.00, IQR=1, p<0.001). The highest rated domain was timely contact with the newborn (M=4.67, IQR=1, p<0.001), while the birth environment and childbirth preparation were rated lowest (M=3.25, IQR=1, p<0.001). Satisfaction varied significantly according to parity, birth mode, pain management and partner presence during childbirth. Vaginal births and planned caesarean sections were associated with higher satisfaction compared to emergency caesarean sections. Conclusion Maternal satisfaction depends on support from healthcare professionals, birth expectations and the physical environment. Respectful care, shared decision-making and optimising the birth environment can improve the childbirth experience Ključne besede: maternity care, postpartum women, birth expectations, healthcare professionals, obstetrics, midwifery Objavljeno v RUP: 05.09.2025; Ogledov: 439; Prenosov: 7

5. Development and improvement of non-technical skills in interprofessional healthcare teams through simulation-based experiences : a systematic reviewPatrik Pucer, Kristina Martinović, Igor Karnjuš, Jakob Renko, 2025, pregledni znanstveni članek Opis: Background Simulation-based experiences (SBE) are widely used for developing non-technical skills (NTS), but their application in interprofessional healthcare teams training remains underexplored. Aim The aim was to explore the development and improvement of NTS in interprofessional healthcare teams through SBE. Methods A systematic review of literature from 2013 to 2023 was conducted using PubMed, Web of Science, and EBSCOHost. The risk of bias was assessed with Critical Appraisal Skills Programme Checklists. Results A total of 22 studies were included. Among NTS categories, teamwork and co-operation was identified in all studies, situation awareness in 18, leadership and management in 16, and problem-solving and decision-making in 14. Healthcare teams were predominantly composed of medical doctors and nurses. Care of critically ill patient was addressed in 12 studies, operative care in six, and other fields in four. High-fidelity simulators were used in 15 studies. Conclusions SBE may effectively develop and improve NTS in interprofessional teams. There are opportunities to broaden its application across healthcare systems and expand its use into less explored fields involving diverse professions.
