1. Implementation of the Slovenian act on the treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural problems or disorders in educationMatej Vukovič, Mitja Krajnčan, Katja Vrhunc Pfeifer, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In 2020, Slovenia implemented the Act on the Treatment of Children and Adolescents With Emotional and Behavioural Problems or Disorders in Education. Using a mixed-methods approach, we investigated how professionals in expert centres1 and social work centres, youth judges, and paedopsychiatrists, as key stakeholders responsible and competent for the professional and lawful treatment of such youth, seek and implement the most appropriate forms of assistance for them, and how they assess the implementation of the Act and the cooperation amongst them. Data were collected through four tailored questionnaires, as well as focus groups and semi-structured interviews. The research is part of a larger Slovenian study entitled Phenomenological and aetiological analysis of emotional and behavioural problems and disorders and the development of didactic approaches for specific subtypes of problems and disorders, not yet published. Based on the opinions of these experts from various fields, we identified shortcomings in the system of support, including what should be eliminated or changed, and what new forms of support and cooperation among stakeholders would be reasonable and necessary to introduce. The results of the survey are also important for understanding the competences, responsibilities, and cooperation among social work centres, expert centres, paedopsychiatrists, and youth judges. 2. On some extremal position problems for graphsJames Tuite, Elias John Thomas, Ullas Chandran S.V., 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The general position number of a graph G is the size of the largest set of vertices S such that no geodesic of G contains more than two elements of S. The monophonic position number of a graph is defined similarly, but with `induced path' in place of `geodesic'. In this paper we investigate some extremal problems for these parameters. Firstly we discuss the problem of the smallest possible order of a graph with given general and monophonic position numbers. We then determine the asymptotic order of the largest size of a graph with given general or monophonic position number, classifying the extremal graphs with monophonic position number two. Finally we establish the possible diameters of graphs with given order and monophonic position number. 3. Homomorphisms from the Coxeter graphMarko Orel, Draženka Višnjić, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Let $S_n(\mathbb{F}_2)$ be the set of all $n\times n$ symmetric matrices with coefficients in the binary field $\mathbb{F}_2=\{0,1\}$, and let $SGL_n(\mathbb{F}_2)$ be its subset formed by invertible matrices. Let $\widehat{\Gamma}_n$ be the graph with the vertex set $S_n(\mathbb{F}_2)$ where a pair of vertices $\{A,B\}$ form an edge if and only if $rank(A-B)=1$. Similarly, let $\Gamma_n$ be the subgraph in $\widehat{\Gamma}_n$, which is induced by the set $SGL_n(\mathbb{F}_2)$. Graph $\Gamma_n$ generalizes the well-known Coxeter graph, which is isomorphic to $\Gamma_3$. Motivated by research topics in coding theory, matrix theory, and graph theory, this paper represents the first step towards the characterization of all graph homomorphisms $\Phi: \Gamma_n\to \widehat{\Gamma}_m$ where $n,m$ are positive integers. Here, the case $n=3$ is solved. 4. An experimental problem-based approach in mathematics teaching and mathematical problem-solving performance in grade 3 primary school pupilsDaniel Doz, Mara Cotič, Nastja Cotič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Problem-solving is a key aspect of mathematics instruction. Although it is part of several national curricula, its implementation is still being vastly explored. The present research, which is part of a larger project, aimed to investigate the effect of using problem-oriented in struction in grade 3 of primary school on students’ mathematical abilities of solving problems in arithmetic, geometry, and logic. The study used a pedagogical experiment, with a sample of 240 pupils in Grade 3 from four randomly selected Slovenian primary schools. Students were divided into two groups: 100 in the experimental group and 140 in the control group. Two tests of mathematical knowledge, constructed by the authors, were used to assess potential differences between the groups before and after the experiment took place. The results showed that the use of an experimental model of problem-based learning had a statistically significant effect on pupils’ mathematics problem-solving achievement in all the domains of mathematics (i.e., arithmetic, geometry, logic & set theory). The study suggests that modern school reforms should focus on problem-based mathematics instruction as a means of achieving meaningful and lasting knowledge in students. Additional research is needed to replicate the results due to the limited number of participants in the present research. 10. Further results on the relation between nonlinearity and resiliency for Boolean functionsEnes Pašalić, Thomas Johansson, 1999, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci (vabljeno predavanje) Opis: A good design of a Boolean function used in a stream cipher requires that the function satisfies certain criteria in order to resist different attacks. In this paper we study the tradeoff between two such criteria, the nonlinearity and the resiliency. The results are twofold. Firstly, we establish the maximum nonlinearity for a fixed resiliency in certain cases. Secondly, we present a simple search algorithm for finding Boolean functions with good nonlinearity and some fixed resiliency.
