1. Dataset of Uzbek base words : extraction and data analysis based on the school corpusKhabibulla Madatov, Surayyo Khajibaeva, Jernej Vičič, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article presents a dataset of Uzbek base words extracted from a purposefully prepared corpus using the Synonym Thesaurus Support method. This method identifies base words for each school-grade by analysing a large text corpus comprising 142 textbooks intended for school education in Uzbekistan. The definition of the base word used in this article and in the proposed dataset is a word within a synonymic series that: - is the most widely used. - is distinguished by semantic clarity and stability. - has stylistic neutrality. Based on the proposed approach, school textbooks were analysed by dividing them into Primary (school grades 1 - 4), Basic Secondary (school grades 5 - 9), and Secondary (school grades 10 - 11) blocks. Base words that stand out from the general corpus were identified for each school-grade. This method extracted new base words not found in previous school grades and specific to the observed grade. The main idea of the method is to extract base words from the lemma sset of each school-grade using a corpus of synonyms. This allows analysing the level of lexical complexity and class-specific vocabulary richness of texts intended for schoolchildren. The final results are lists of base words specifically extracted from primary (school-grades 1 - 4), basic secondary (school-grades 5 - 9), and secondary (school-grades 10 - 11) school texts; 17,599,48,203, and 20,491 base words, respectively. 2. Opportunities and challenges in reading literacy development in a digital context : preservice teachersSonja Rutar, Barbara Baloh, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The development of reading literacy in the contemporary context, characterised by the predominance of digital technology, poses a significant pedagogical challenge. In the Slovenian higher education system, future preschool and primary school teachers are educated at the Faculty of Education, which enables developmental continuity in pedagogical approaches from kindergarten to primary school. This article reports the findings of a study involving prospective preschool and primary school teachers who participated in projects designed to cultivate digital literacy to enhance teaching efficacy through the use of digital technology. The study employed a qualitative approach. In the first phase, students reflected on their individual trajectories of reading literacy development. In the second phase, participants considered the advantages and disadvantages of developing reading literacy through digital technology, drawing on their personal experiences of learning to read and of using digital tools in pedagogical contexts. Ključne besede: literacy, digital technology in education, preschool, primary school Objavljeno v RUP: 15.05.2026; Ogledov: 207; Prenosov: 7

3. Narcissism in postmodern society and schools : the influence of neoliberal values on the behavioral patterns of children and adolescentsBeno Arnejčič, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Abstract This article examines narcissism as a cultural and educational problem in late-modern societies, arguing that neoliberal values— competition, performativity, and market-like evaluations shape children’s and adolescents’ self-understanding and behavior. Drawing on cultural and psychosocial perspectives (Lasch, Fromm, Twenge and Campbell, Verhaeghe, and Vesna V. Godina), the paper conceptualizes narcissism less as an individual pathology and more as a socially produced pattern of relating to oneself and others. Schools are approached as microcosms where broader cultural imperatives become daily practices through grading, comparison, and status competition, which may intensify external validation seeking and reduce empathic engagement. Two divergent student responses are highlighted: grandiose self-presentation, often linked to aggression under ego threat, and egoistic withdrawal, characterized by self-suppression and fear of standing out. The article concludes by outlining educational strategies that strengthen community, dialogue, and social-emotional learning as protective factors against narcissistic dynamics. 4. Men in educational professionsMitja Krajnčan, Matej Vukovič, Urša Rozman, Katja Vrhunc Pfeifer, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Men have traditionally been underrepresented in the teaching profession, impacting the dynamics of the educational system and gender equality in pedagogical work. This study analyzes the social, cultural, and institutional factors influencing men’s decisions to pursue a teaching career and evaluates their professional experiences. The research is based on quantitative data collected through a survey questionnaire and theoretical frameworks such as Bourdieu’s concept of social habitus and Connell’s theory of masculinity. Findings indicate that men in educational professions often face stereotypes, occupational barriers, and different expectations regarding career advancement compared to their female colleagues. The study provides policy recommendations to promote gender diversity in teaching professions. 5. Dataset of vocabulary in Uzbek primary education : extraction and analysis in case of the school corpusKhabibulla Madatov, Sapura Sattarova, Jernej Vičič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The main goal of this research work is to determine the number of new words that a primary school pupil should know/acquire during each academic year. To accomplish this, we have created two datasets. The first dataset was compiled based on the "Explanatory Vocabulary of the Uzbek Language" (EDUL). The second dataset was created from 35 primary school textbooks for grades 1-4 approved by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and it was named the "Uzbek Primary School Corpus" (UPSC) by authors. Using the "Comparative Lemma Extraction Method" (CLEM) proposed by the authors of the article, a vocabulary for grades 1-4 was created, and the problem of determining the number of new words (disregarding word forms as Uzbek is a morphologically rich language) that primary school pupils should learn each academic year was solved. 6. Using inquiry-based learning for developing university students’ digital skillsMojca Žefran, Silva Bratož, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji Opis: In recent years, the development of digital skills has been encouraged at all levels of education. For this purpose, innovative pedagogies and approaches aimed at fostering learners’ active participation, critical skills, and autonomy have been proposed. In this paper, we focus on the benefits of using the inquiry-based approach (IBL) for developing education students’ digital skills. A design-based study was conducted with a group of students (n=38) in the primary education study programme with a view to identifying students’ attitudes towards IBL as well as their experiences and challenges encountered in the process. The design-based scenario followed the 5E inquiry-based instructional model (engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation). Data for this study was gathered through an online survey, a focus group discussion, and through an in-depth analysis of the IBL scenario. The results indicate that students hold positive attitudes towards IBL. The most significant challenge identified was the application of critical thinking skills to locate and evaluate relevant research sources.
