2. Evaluating depolarization-oriented news ranking strategies using LLM-generated articlesUroš Sergaš, Marko Tkalčič, Bruce Ferwerda, 2026, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Algorithmic news ranking and large language models (LLMs) increasingly mediate how citizens receive political information. While personalization is often criticized for reinforcing echo chambers, ranking has also been proposed as a lever for depolarization by shaping exposure to cross-cutting viewpoints. We test this claim in an online experiment (N=100, Prolific) using five LLM-generated news articles on gun legislation spanning pro–gun freedom to pro–gun control. All participants read the same articles; the only manipulation was article order, instantiated as a random baseline and six stance-aware depolarization-oriented strategies (counter-narrative sandwich, balanced alternation, and directional gradients). Pre–post questionnaires measured ideological self- placement (feeling thermometer) and affective evaluations of gun-control and gun-freedom advocates. Across six research questions, we find no statistically reliable evidence that any ranking strategy reduces ideological or affective polarization relative to the baseline, nor that stance-conditioned assignment improves outcomes. These results suggest that, under the constraints of a short, single-session, single-topic exposure study with LLM-generated article stimuli, article ordering alone did not produce detectable depolarization effects. The findings motivate future work to design longer-term, multi-topic, and more interactive solutions for mitigating affective polarization. 3. Policy-induced welfare losses from limited decumulation options : the case of Slovenia’s DC pensionsDino Šterpin, Suzana Laporšek, Boštjan Vovk, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This study examines restricted decumulation options for retirees with Defined Contribution (DC) in Slovenia and shows how these constraints create an implicit tax on accumulated assets. Using the Money’s Worth framework, we find that Slovenian annuities offer lower value than comparable products in advanced markets. We develop a utility-based model with loss aversion to quantify welfare losses across eight retiree types, differing in loss aversion, bequest motive, replacement rate, and time preference. Seven out of eight retiree types achieve higher utility under currently unavailable strategies. We introduce the Implicit Tax on DC Assets to capture the opportunity cost of restricted product availability. 6. Teaching evidence-based practice to non-native english-speaking undergraduate nursing students : an integrative literature reviewMelita Peršolja, 2025, pregledni znanstveni članek Opis: Aim/objective: To analyse and synthesise current evidence on educational strategies for teaching evidence-based practice (EBP) to undergraduate nursing students, with a specific focus on non-native English-speaking learner populations. Background: Teaching EBP in non-native English-speaking settings presents distinct challenges, including language proficiency barriers, limited access to research literature and variability in pedagogical approaches. Despite the range of educational strategies introduced in the literature, a universally accepted or recommended method has yet to be established. Design: An integrative literature review was conducted to examine peer-reviewed empirical studies on EBP education published between 2015 and 2025, with a focus on educational strategies. The review was carried out in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Methods: Twelve studies met the inclusion criteria. Methodological quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Tools. An inductive thematic analysis was employed to synthesise the findings. Results: All reviewed studies employed quantitative methodologies with a pre-post or quasi-experimental design. Thematic analysis identified five key categories in teaching EBP: educational methods, technology integration, clinical focus, collaboration, intervention duration and outcomes. The studies showed that various educational methods demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing nursing students’ EBP competencies, as reflected in improved knowledge, attitudes and skills. Conclusions: Diverse and scaffolded teaching methods enhance EBP competencies in non-native English-speaking nursing students. A longitudinal, multimodal and flexible approach emphasising collaboration, integration and practice orientation with technological support, appears most effective. Internationally informed guidelines are needed to ensure consistent development of core EBP competencies globally.
