Religion, spirituality, and health values among young adults in Slovenia : a qualitative study
Mirko Prosen, Mojca Baša, Ines Batista Križaj, Andrejka Presl, Sabina Ličen, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study explores how young adults in Slovenia perceive religion and spirituality and how they relate these dimensions to health, values, and health-related habits. In modern secular societies, religion and spirituality are increasingly seen as influencing health indirectly, mainly through personal values, identity, and coping strategies. However, little is known about how young adults themselves experience this relationship. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, with data collected through semi-structured interviews with 21 participants aged 18–34. Interviews were conducted in late 2025, recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using thematic analysis supported by Atlas.ti software. The trustworthiness of the study was ensured through established qualitative research criteria. Five key themes emerged: personal perspectives on religion and spirituality, the influence of family and socio-cultural environment, religion as a source of moral values, perceptions of the relationship between religion and health, and the role of religion in coping with stress and supporting mental well-being. Participants generally viewed religion as a personal and selective aspect of life with limited influence on physical health behaviors. Instead, its importance was mainly related to mental well-being and stress management. The findings indicate that religion and spirituality functioned primarily as psychosocial resources rather than direct determinants of health behaviors among young adults in Slovenia.

Extreme hollow hexagons with respect to the Mostar index
Roberto Cruz, Andrés Santamaría-Galvis, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The Mostar index of a connected graph is a well-known distance-based topologicalindex. Hollow hexagons are coronoid systems that represent coronoid hydrocarbons be-longing to the class of cycloarenes. They are formed by a single chain in a macro-cyclicarrangement consisting of linearly and angularly annelated hexagons, with exactly six an-gular hexagons. In this paper, we compute the Mostar index of hollow hexagons and findmaximal and minimal values of the Mostar index over the set of hollow hexagons with afixed number of hexagons.

Changing values through generations : the case of mountain tourists
Tomi Špindler, Miha Lesjak, Mitja Gorenak, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Mountain tourism is becoming an increasingly important part of tourism in the Alpine countries, so research among mountain tourists is necessary. The changing values of different generations of tourists play a major role in their behaviour in a high-altitude environment and consequently affect the condition of these areas. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the values of different generations of mountain tourists, different genders of tourists and among members and non-members of mountaineering associations. To achieve this purpose, a quantitative approach was used. The data was collected through a self-completion questionnaire in physical form at locations of 1st category mountain huts in Slovenian mountains during the 2020 summer mountaineering season. As part of the research, the sample was divided into four groups according to the year of birth of participants. With multivariate analysis, the existence of significant differences between groups of respondents of different ages, gender and membership, according to their values, was determined. The results of the research demonstrate the correlation between prevailing mountaineering values of mountain tourists and their characteristics. The research helps us to understand the mountaineering values of tourists who visit the mountains and fills the knowledge gap in the field of the differences between the values of different generations of mountain tourists, different genders and among membership in mountaineering associations. As outdoor activities are also gaining in popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic, the results of this research can be useful for attracting new members to mountaineering organizations, preserving mountaineering culture and sustainable development of tourism in the mountains.
