Show me your sword and i know where you come from--- remarkable Celtic swords in the South-Eastern Alps
Florian Mauthner, Boris Kavur, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: A few decades ago, Styria, spanning Austria and Slovenia, was seen as a marginal area in early Celtic expansion. Isolated grave finds suggested a dispersed and culturally mixed landscape, echoing the region’s transitional topography between the Eastern Alps and the Carpathian Basin. However, discoveries over the past twenty years have transformed this view. Newly identified cemeteries reveal a dynamic Celtic presence during the 4th century BC, marked by cultural consolidation and distinctive regional craftsmanship. Among the most striking evidence are elaborately decorated swords and scabbards from Lt B2 graves, demonstrating advanced blacksmithing and welding. Our study focuses on these artefacts to argue that Styria hosted an active regional group of Celtic sword-makers, initially influenced by Pannonian models but soon developing unique local artistic and technological traits.

Second homes as an interdisciplinary research topic : a COBISS system based analysis of diploma theses in the Slovenian tertiary education
Miha Koderman, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article examines second homes as an interdisciplinary research topic by situating them within contemporary conceptualisations of second homes as enduring socio-spatial phenomena through a systematic analysis of the diploma theses in the Slovenian tertiary education. The study, based on a COBISS database, identified 64 students’ bachelor's and master's theses and doctoral dissertations that focus on the topic of second homes. Most of these theses could be classified into six disciplinary domains: architecture and landscape architecture (20), construction–energy technology–geodesy (13), geography (10), design and interior design (9), economy and tourism (5), and ethnology and cultural anthropology (3). The publication of the theses spans over more than four decades, demonstrating the long-term continuity and evolving thematic diversity of second-home research, while the research reveals that second homes represent one of the most enduring, diverse, and interdisciplinary topics. Geography has played a pioneering and sustaining role, providing conceptual and methodological foundations for understanding second homes as spatial processes linked to leisure mobility, landscape transformation, and tourism development, which have influenced research in other disciplines.

Code glosses in the European Union’s legislative documents : corpus analysis of the English and Croatian DGT Translation Memory parallel corpus
Marina Peršurić Antonić, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study examines code glosses, i.e. a category of metadiscourse that clarifies or exemplifies content, in the EU’s legislative corpus, using the English and Croatian DGT Translation Memory parallel corpus (Steinberger et al., 2012). Code glosses enhance coherence and reader comprehension by reformulating or elaborating arguments, which is especially useful in legal texts, yet their use in such texts remains understudied compared to the academic genre. Employing Sketch Engine for automated extraction and manual analysis, the research reveals nuanced differences in the frequency and form of code glosses between English and Croatian legislative texts (in Croatian code glosses are used slightly less, but certain code glosses, such as colons, are used more frequently), reflecting the tendency to keep the structure of the original text in translations. These findings contribute to a better understanding of cross-linguistic textual adaptation in legislative contexts. Future work will explore other metadiscourse categories and their impact on reader comprehension in legal contexts.
