3. Pre-service teachers' attitude towards learning and teaching English to young learnersSilva Bratož, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Considerable attention has recently been invested into researching the influence of affective variables, such as attitudes and motivation on foreign language learning and teaching. The topic is timely and relevant especially at the time when English is being introduced as an obligatory subject in the first cycle of primary school in Slovenia. Two key issues are addressed: attitudes towards learning and teaching English as a foreign language and the profile of the young learners' language teacher. The article presents the results of a small-scale research conducted with a group of primary education students on their attitudes towards learning and teaching English. The results suggest that trainee teachers have moderately positive attitudes towards learning English but diverse attitudes towards teaching a foreign language. 4. Who says they don't read? Slovene elementary school students' reading motivation in EFLAnja Pirih, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: A typical (Slovene) teenager today no longer finds reading materials on the book shelves in the local library, but forms a reading list of electronic sources, very often in English. However, in contrast with an abundance of studies focusing on first language (L1) reading strategies and motivation, not a lot of literature can be found on reading motivation in a foreign language, even though it is perceived as one of the most important factors influencing second language (L2) development. The aim of this research is to determine the influences on reading motivation in English as a foreign language in the group of young teenagers (11-14-year-olds) and a possible transfer of L1 reading attitudes to L2 reading. The theoretical framework relies on Wigfield and Guthrie's (1997) self-efficacy theory and Day and Bamford's (1998) expectancy value model. The data obtained from 197 questionnaires give an insight into not only the frequency of reading in English and the type of reading materials, but also the factors influencing teenagers' reading motivation in EFL. 7. Much room to foster the motivation of researchersElizabeta Zirnstein, 2011, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Innovations are one of the key factors, influencing the development and the progress of any society. Innovation capabilities of companies depend on a variety of factors, such as R&D expenditure, knowledge management processes, culture, organization structure, management systems etc. In search of new, innovative ideas and solutions the undertakings tend to co-operate more and more often also colleges, universities and other public research institutions, in which research is actually one of their basic missions. If once the purpose and the pinnacle of scientific research work of scientists, employed at the universities and research institutes, was publication of research results in scientific magazines and presentations at the conferences (result of basic research), today the results of research are conveyed through patents, trademarks and other forms of commercial application to a much greater extent. Consequently, the degree of innovation is tightly related to the co-relation between the universities and economy. This paper seeks to provide insights into researchersʼ motives to innovate. Although motivation has been investigated in many fields, there is not much to be found with regard to how to motivate the researchers at universities, research institutes and last but not least in the enterprises to research and to innovate. Hereby, we present the results of a research, which analysed what motivates and what hinders the Slovenian researchers, foremost those involved in patentable inventions, at their work. We asked the researchers which factors either as incentive or as obstacle influence most their scientific research work and in this regard the patent activity in different phases of research process. The picture of the factors (hindrances and motivators), collected through our research, could present a strong support in planning and forming the work of researchers at universities, research institutes and in enterprises. Based on the results obtained through the research we can conclude that the Slovenian universities and research institution have still a lot of work to do in the field of increase of efficiency of the scientific research activity. Considering the Herzberg motivation theory the factors, which especially encourage the researchers towards research work, should be integrated in the work environment as much as possible; those, taking their motivation away, should be eliminated or at least limited. The findings of there search will be of special importance to the management persons of universities, research institutes and enterprises, who are responsible for setting up an encouraging and motivational work environment with the aim to achieve higher innovation and more effective research. 8. Sales force turnoverSuman Pathak, Vibhuti Tripathi, 2010, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The insurance sector in India is rising rapidly to bring in growth and employment opportunities. Insurance companies are basically human intensive, and human resources act as an undoubted differentiator. Quality manpower and its retention would act as a litmus test. Turnover of sales force has been high because of low entry and exit barriers. The paper addresses issues of recruitment, retention and turnover of sales force in insurance companies. An attempt is made to integrate them to Maslowćs Need Hierarchy. A survey was conducted among 350 employees who worked in or had left insurance companies to analyze factors that influenced their decisions and job satisfaction. The data were treated with factor analysis. Factors such as Safety & Security, Social & Esteem and Personal Work Style emerged as the influencers to join insurance companies. Primary Needs and Social & Self Esteem Needs were the factors associated with job satisfactionč Stress, Career Advancement and Work Environment emerged as factors for leaving the companies.
