1. Challenges and opportunities of micro-credentials in nursing : a qualitative studyJakob Renko, Patrik Pucer, Igor Karnjuš, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background: Micro-credentials (MCs) present a new opportunity for improving continuing professional development (CPD), but their implementation in the field of nursing remains largely unexplored. The aim of this study was to explore the opportunities and challenges related to integrating MCs into nursing education in Slovenia. Methods: The study utilized a qualitative, exploratory design that involved conducting semi-structured interviews. A total of 19 interviews were conducted with representatives from different parts of the MCs ecosystem. The data collected were subsequently analysed through inductive thematic analysis. Results: Three main themes were identified: potential challenges in MCs implementation, opportunities and advantages of MCs, and the scope of potential areas for MCs application. Each of the three main themes was divided into three separate subthemes, which were then divided into associated codes. The most commonly mentioned potential challenges of MCs implementation were the regulation of knowledge output, accreditation of MCs, funding, and a lack of workplace communication. The most frequently occurring opportunities and advantages were the accessibility of education and training, competence improvement, career development, and standardisation. MCs could help develop better competence in specialised fields of healthcare, individual interventions, and non-technical skills, as well as fields that are not strictly related to nursing, such as management and mentor training. Conclusion: MCs hold significant promise for advancing nursing practice. Effective implementation of MCs could impact CPD for nursing practitioners, which is a known field that needs improvement. For this to be realized, we need to take into consideration challenges such as a lack of regulation, funding, and communication between stakeholders. Further research is still required to determine how to best implement MCs into nursing practice Ključne besede: micro-credentials, nursing, continuing professional development Objavljeno v RUP: 10.06.2026; Ogledov: 120; Prenosov: 7

2. Nurses’ moral decision-making in practice through Kantian duty ethicsMirko Prosen, Nađa Antonić, Ema Sovinec, Mitja Zdovc, Sabina Ličen, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background: Nurses frequently encounter ethical dilemmas, moral distress, and situations in which they must balance professional duties, personal values, and organizational constraints. Deontological ethics, particularly Kant’s ethics of duty, offers a normative framework that emphasizes moral action grounded in duty rather than consequences. However, limited empirical research explores how nurses understand and enact Kantian principles in everyday clinical practice. Research aim: To explore how nurses understand and enact principles of Kant’s ethics of duty in clinical decision-making and how this philosophical framework shapes their moral judgement, sense of duty, and professional integrity. Research design: A qualitative descriptive research design. Participants and research context: Between November and December 2025, 17 nurses were recruited from various clinical settings in Slovenia through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured in-person interviews focused on moral decision-making, professional duty, moral autonomy, and institutional constraints. Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis approach was employed to analyze the data. Ethical considerations: The study was approved by the university ethics committee. Participation was voluntary and anonymous, and written informed consent was obtained from all participants. Findings: The data analysis developed five major thematic categories: perceptions of the demands and responsibilities of nursing work, understanding of duty and professional ethics, ethical decision-making and moral autonomy, the emotional dimension and humanized nurse–patient relationships, and organizational conditions and systemic ethical challenges. Conclusions: The findings suggest that nurses largely enact Kantian ethics of duty through internalized professional values and commitment to patient dignity. However, organizational and systemic factors significantly limit their capacity for autonomous moral action. Strengthening ethical practice in nursing requires improved working conditions, enhanced professional autonomy, and structured support through ethics education, supervision, and team-based ethical reflection Ključne besede: nursing ethics, moral decision-making, Kantian duty ethics, professional autonomy, ethical dilemmas Objavljeno v RUP: 07.06.2026; Ogledov: 106; Prenosov: 7

3. Ethical aspects of using AI among occupational psychologists : a pilot studyŠpela Bizjan, Ana Arzenšek, 2025, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Psychologists, specializing in work and organizational psychology (occupational psychologists), play a crucial role in the implementation and development of Human resource management (HRM) processes, which are increasingly affected by artificial intelligence (AI). This research aims to examine how and why AI is utilized among occupational psychologists, as well as the ethical dilemmas associated with this use in relation to the Code of Professional Ethics for Psychologists (the Code). The empirical part of this pilot study is based on a qualitative research design. 6 semi-structured interviews based on 11 questions regarding the use of AI in occupational psychologists’ work were conducted. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. The study results reveal that AI plays a vital role in automating routine administrative tasks. Participants highlighted its contribution to time efficiency and its utility in language translation. Nonetheless, concerns arise regarding increases in the occupational psychologists’ workload, as human oversight is required to ensure the accuracy and reliability of AI. While AI promises objectivity, participants cautioned that algorithms can be biased, potentially leading to discriminatory practices. They also expressed concerns about accountability. This question is pivotal, as the Code mandates the maintenance of professional boundaries and the respect for individuals' rights. Participants also pointed to risks associated with data protection. Despite this awareness, participants admitted they do not rely on the Code in their work with AI, which increases the risk of unethical decision-making. It is recommended that organizations provide adequate training for AI users, regulate data input, and ensure its use in accordance with ethical guidelines. The Slovenian Psychologists’ Association has a pivotal role in the preparation of specific guidelines and advising occupational psychologists on the ethical use of AI. 6. Identifying and supporting twice-exceptional students with emotional and behavioral disorders : perspectives of primary school teachersDiana Oman, Mojca Kukanja-Gabrijelčič, Vanja Riccarda Kiswarday, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This study investigates how primary school teachers recognize and support twiceexceptional students—those who exhibit both high cognitive potential and emotional or behavioral disorders. The objective is to explore the extent to which these students are identified in school settings and to examine professional awareness, attitudes, and practices regarding their needs. Due to the complex and often contradictory nature of their profiles, the giftedness of twice-exceptional students is frequently overlooked, especially when behavioral and emotional difficulties obscure their academic potential. Relying primarily on quantitative descriptive methods, the research surveyed education professionals on their knowledge and recognition of twice-exceptionality. The findings reveal a persistent reliance on traditional markers of giftedness, such as measurable academic performance, with insufficient attention paid to behavioral and emotional indicators. The study emphasizes the need for a multidimensional and holistic approach to giftedness identification, combining academic, psychological, and behavioral assessments. It further calls for systematic professional development and institutional adjustments to ensure these students receive adequate support, preventing their marginalization and enabling the full realization of their potential. 9. Psychosocial factors in the development of low back pain among professional driversFriderika Kresal, Tine Bertoncel, Maja Meško, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background and purpose: Professional drivers as a group are exposed to high risk of developing low back pain due to ergonomic factors and work conditions. The purpose of the study was to examine to what extent the low back pain occurs among Slovene professional drivers as a result of the development of various psychosocial factors. Methodology: The study involved 275 respondents (professional bus drivers, car/van drivers, international truck/ lorry drivers, and ambulance car drivers). Hypotheses were tested using multivariate statistical method (regression analysis) and analysis of variance. Data were collected by structured questionnaire comprised of three parts: socio-demographic data, basic psychosocial factors causing low back pain, and incidence, duration and severity of low back pain as a result of psychosocial risk factors, was implemented. Results: The results of quantitative survey suggest that low back pain is mostly caused by lifting and carrying heavy loads, inadequate working conditions, poor physical fitness, regular nights out, shift work, and stress. Only the impact of gender on low back pain distress among professional drivers was confirmed, predominantly among bus drivers and lorry drivers on international routes. Low back pain occurrence was less common, albeit not statistically significant, among professional drivers of vans and passenger cars. Conclusion: Our study suggests that psychosocial factors are also important cause for the development of low back pain among professional drivers and can limit the quality of their social and professional lives.
