Ethical aspects of using AI among occupational psychologists : a pilot study
Špela Bizjan, Ana Arzenšek, 2025, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Psychologists, specializing in work and organizational psychology (occupational psychologists), play a crucial role in the implementation and development of Human resource management (HRM) processes, which are increasingly affected by artificial intelligence (AI). This research aims to examine how and why AI is utilized among occupational psychologists, as well as the ethical dilemmas associated with this use in relation to the Code of Professional Ethics for Psychologists (the Code). The empirical part of this pilot study is based on a qualitative research design. 6 semi-structured interviews based on 11 questions regarding the use of AI in occupational psychologists’ work were conducted. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. The study results reveal that AI plays a vital role in automating routine administrative tasks. Participants highlighted its contribution to time efficiency and its utility in language translation. Nonetheless, concerns arise regarding increases in the occupational psychologists’ workload, as human oversight is required to ensure the accuracy and reliability of AI. While AI promises objectivity, participants cautioned that algorithms can be biased, potentially leading to discriminatory practices. They also expressed concerns about accountability. This question is pivotal, as the Code mandates the maintenance of professional boundaries and the respect for individuals' rights. Participants also pointed to risks associated with data protection. Despite this awareness, participants admitted they do not rely on the Code in their work with AI, which increases the risk of unethical decision-making. It is recommended that organizations provide adequate training for AI users, regulate data input, and ensure its use in accordance with ethical guidelines. The Slovenian Psychologists’ Association has a pivotal role in the preparation of specific guidelines and advising occupational psychologists on the ethical use of AI.

Dataset of sentiment tagged language resources for Macedonian language
Sofija Kochovska, Jernej Vičič, Branko Kavšek, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Macedonian is a South Slavic language spoken by about 2 million people, primarily in North Macedonia and among diaspora communities worldwide. It’s known for a few distinctive features. Most notably, it uses definite articles attached to the end of nouns, for example, kniga (a book) becomes knigata (the book). Furthermore, it doesn’t use grammatical cases, which makes its grammar relatively straightforward compared to other Slavic languages. The dataset comprises two lists of sentiment annotated words that present the core of the Macedonian sentiment-annotated lexicon, a list of the stopwords, and a list of Affirmative and non-Affirmative words (AnAwords) composed mostly of intensifiers and diminishers, and a list of polarity shifters. The main usage of the presented materials is in rule-based sentiment analysis, but the usage of some of the lists can be much broader.

TF-IDF-based classification of Uzbek educational texts
Khabibulla Madatov, Sapura Sattarova, Jernej Vičič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper presents a baseline study on automatic Uzbek text classification. Uzbek is a morphologically rich and low-resource language, which makes reliable preprocessing and evaluation challenging. The approach integrates Term Frequency–Inverse Document Frequency (TF–IDF) representation with three conventional methods: linear regression (LR), k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN), and cosine similarity (CS, implemented as a 1-NN retrieval model). The objective is to categorize school learning materials by grade level (grades 5–11) to support improved alignment between curricular texts and students’ intellectual development. A balanced dataset of Uzbek school textbooks across different subjects was constructed, preprocessed with standard NLP tools, and converted into TF–IDF vectors. Experimental results on the internal test set of 70 files show that LR achieved 92.9% accuracy (precision = 0.94, recall = 0.93, F1 = 0.93), while CS performed comparably with 91.4% accuracy (precision = 0.92, recall = 0.91, F1 = 0.92). In contrast, k-NN obtained only 28.6% accuracy, confirming its weakness in high-dimensional sparse feature spaces. External evaluation on seven Uzbek literary works further demonstrated that LR and CS yielded consistent and interpretable grade-level mappings, whereas k-NN results were unstable. Overall, the findings establish reliable baselines for Uzbek educational text classification and highlight the potential of extending beyond lexical overlap toward semantically richer models in future work.

Investments in human capital : the case of Slovene micro companies
Franko Milost, Matic Novak, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Investments in human capital (employees) include investments in the direct assurance of working abilities, investments in health and well-being and investments in loyalty to the company. These investments are crucial for the long-term existence and development of a company, but their value is not disclosed on the assets side of the classical balance sheet. The most important argument given by the proponents of this approach is that the economic benefits stemming from such investments are uncertain. However, investments in human capital are those with the highest long-term benefits for the company. Therefore, human capital is the only element of the business process that can add value. Other elements (means of production, materials and services) just transfer their value to products and services. This paper discusses the elements of investments in human capital and the methods used to evaluate these investments. This is followed by the impact that treatment of investments in employees in classical accounting has on the true and fair view of financial statements. And finally, results of the research dealing with investments in employees in Slovene micro companies are presented.

Human resources in a draught : how managers construed the role and meaning of human resource management during the 2008 economic crisis in Slovenia
Ana Arzenšek, Kristijan Musek Lešnik, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: An empirical study of interpretive schemas regarding human resource management (HRM) and its social responsibility of selected manufacturers in the automotive industry and of financial institutions is presented. We were interested in how participants interpreted the role of the HRM department during the economic crisis of 2008. It was assumed that HRM is subjected to increased accommodation processes during economic turbulence. Interpretive schemas regarding HRM of three selected manufacturers in the automotive industry and of three financial institutions from Slovenia were studied. Over a three-year period, 31 interviews with their management, HRM, and union representatives were conducted. In addition, content analysis of annual reports was made. The results have shown that the current crisis has not yet been a factor of diminished roles and meaning of HRM. While the manufacturing companies are considerably homogeneous in their scope of adjustments to the crisis, the financial companies considerably differ from each other regarding their scope of activities and are going through schema change. Factors, discovered in this study, add to the knowledge framework of successful HRM change and explain levels of social responsibility towards employees working in the companies.
