Prosthetic memory and film-induced dark tourism in the specific post-conflict context : a divergent young adults’ perspective
Metod Šuligoj, Jasna Hartman, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The present postmodernist study explores how widely accessible films depicting tragic historical sites/events influence prosthetic memories and film-induced dark tourism among Western Balkan (the ‘region of memory’) young adult new-age platform users with no personal war experience. A heterogeneous list of ten internation - ally known historical films, compiled with the help of informants, was the basis for discussion in three nationally diverse focus groups (Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian- Herzegovinian) and then compared with a comparison group from a less stressed environment. The results of the content analysis with triangulation are discussed, and explaining the missing prosthetic memory, factual knowledge and film-induced dark tourism nexus among young adults in a peculiarly toxic post-conflict atmosphere. The study thus identifies historical film and dark tourism abstainers and explains deviations not pre - viously reported in studies of the above concepts, taking into account the specific social environment and age group.

The Slovene Composer Ivo Petrić and Društvo slovenskih skladateljev
Niall O’Loughlin, 2026, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: After the Second World War Slovene composers formed a society to organise and coordinate all their activities. Gradually the progress in publishing and making Slovene music available for performance was considerable. In 1972 the composer Ivo Petrić was appointed to Secretary of the Society of Slovene Composers (Društvo slovenskih skladateljev, abbreviated to DSS). He was active in increasing the numbers of works published, the large library of orchestral works for hire and later the recording of numerous works. Petrić was a very important model for his colleagues. Not only did he work tirelessly for all the composers of the society, but he also formed the Slavko Osterc Ensemble to perform mostly new Slovene chamber ensemble works and to record them. As a composer he produced many interesting and impressive works. Early symphonies taking some influence from Hindemith and Prokofiev were followed by a period using techniques from the Polish avant-garde. Later he returned to more traditional techniques. His contribution to the development of serious Slovene music has been very important, with DSS now thriving in all its aspects.

The Coexistence of the Social, the Professional and the Artistic in the History of the Society of Slovene Composers
Sonja Kralj, 2026, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: The article provides a concise overview of the doctoral thesis defended under the same title. It elucidates the importance of the Society of Slovene Composers for the preservation of Slovenian musical identity and for the promotion of musical creativity. Furthermore, it illuminates its function in addressing the statutory needs of its members. The core activities of Society are higlighted through the prism of historical circumstances that influenced its cooperation with musical institutions, related associations in the former Yugoslavia, partners in Slovenia and on the international stage, and the nature of its interdependance with the Union of Yugoslav Composers. The fulfilment of its mission delienates through the presentation of tangible initiatives in the domains of music publishing, concert activity, the promotion of new musical compositions, the dissemination of sheet music, copyright protection and international collaboration within the context of the disparate periods of Yugoslav and Slovenian cultural poli(tics)cies. A concise overview of the activities of the Society of Slovene Composers since its establishment at the end of 1945 provides an attempt to outline the programmatic and institutional efforts of its members, with a complementary examination of the influences of social, cultural, political, and institutional factors that have guided and determined its activities, as well as the cultural-political trajectories of the organisation, which in some periods of its history has gone beyond merely satisfying the statutory needs of its members and has taken its place among the most significant actors of Slovenian musical life, cultural policy and musical identity.

Upskilling older employees in the artificial intelligence era
Tinkara Žabar, Aleksander Janeš, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Research Question (RQ): What is the effect of new technologies, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), on the need to upskill older employees (50+ years). Purpose: The purpose of the research was to carry out a systematic literature review of existing research in the field of the effect of AI on the upskilling needs of older employees. Method: We performed a systematic literature review across six academic search engines: ProQuest, Emerald, Sage Journals, Springer, Research Gate, and Google Scholar. Results: Artificial intelligence is significantly transforming the labor market, as it requires constant adaptation to new skills and knowledge. AI has a significant effect on older employees, who are exposed to greater challenges due to a possible lack of digital skills and sensitivity to change. In this context, training and further education are key mechanisms to ensure that skills match the requirements of the work environment and the labor market. Organizations must quickly adapt to changing requirements by creating a culture of lifelong learning that encourages seniors and other employees to improve. Training programs must be based on the specific needs and challenges faced by older employees. Organization: The research emphasizes the importance of training older employees in the age of AI and encourages organizations to create a culture of lifelong learning as part of the organization's strategic directions and goals. Society: The importance of research for society is reflected in the insight into the involvement of all age groups in the possibility of improving knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards the use of modern technologies. Organizations and society itself bear the social responsibility to enable older employees to successfully integrate into the work environment in the AI era. Originality: The research addresses the need to improve the skills of a specific age group in the age of AI, where it simultaneously highlights the importance of fostering a culture of lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world. The research findings provide guidelines for policymaking in the field of training on the national level in the context of an aging workforce and new technologies. Limitations/further research: The literature review was limited to six publicly available databases. In the article, older employees were considered as people in the labor process older than 50 years. We must emphasize that older employees differ from each other in terms of education, economic, social, and other circumstances. Further research should investigate the effect of new technologies regarding the specific circumstances mentioned in this age group.

Vittorio Radeglia and His Serenade aux Etoiles in the Modern Composers’ Series Competition
Vjera Katalinić, Lucija Konfic, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Vittorio Radeglia (Istanbul, 1863 – Istanbul, 1941) was a composer of operas, orchestral works, cantatas, but the largest part of his output consisted of compositions for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, and vocal songs. Thanks to his Dalmatian origin, the Department for History of Croatian Music of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb received his musical legacy as a gift from his daughter. Since Radeglia is not known to the wider musical and musicological audiences, in this paper we will present the outline of his life and work, but we will devote most of our attention to his composition Serenade aux etoiles [Serenade to the Stars], a piece that was awarded first prize in the Modern Composers’ Series competition and published by the Art Publication Society (St Louis) in 1913. The idea behind this publishing series was to make music education widely available through the publication of scores “with authoritative pedalling, fingering and phrasing”, but the series also aimed to communicate “the poetic idea of the composer.” Thus, the scores also included composers’ notes on in the published piece which addressed issues of interpretation. These notes will be discussed in relation to the contemporary performer’s interpretation organized for the purpose of this analysis. The research for this paper is part of the project “Institutionalization of modern bourgeois musical culture in the 19th century in Civil Croatia and the Military Border”.

Perspektiva moških in žensk v procesu skrbi za reproduktivno zdravje
Anton Grmšek Svetlin, Nika Jerina, Melisa Smajlović, Mirko Prosen, Rebeka Lekše, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Research Questions (RQ):What factors do men and women think influence the quality of their reproductive health? What differences exist between men and women in their perception of their own reproductive health? How do stigmas and taboos affect reproductive health?Purpose:The purpose of this research wasto examine the perspectives of men and women in the process of reproductive health care.Method:Qualitative method was used.Data was collectedfrom a purposive sample throughfourfocus groups. The data was analyzed using content analysis. Results:Results: three themes were identified through the qualitative analysis method: (1) reproductive health of men and women, (2) socio-cultural aspects of reproductive health, and (3) challenges of reproductive health. At the same time, 13 sub-themes were identified. The study showed that primary socialization has a significant impact on an individual's attitudes towards reproductive health in adulthood. It was found that women are more concerned about reproductive health than men. It was also found that stigmas and taboos, which prevent open discussion about reproductive health, have a major impact on the quality of reproductive health. This leads to lack of information, fear, discrimination and inequalities in access to healthservices.Organization:The research highlights the need for more education and emphasis on preventive care and reducing social exclusion and stigma related to reproductive health.Society:The results of the research contribute to a better understanding of men's and women's perceptions of reproductive health and how they think it is influenced by society. In this context, it also provides a better understanding of how stigmas and taboos affect reproductive health and how to seek help when reproductive health problems arise.Originality:The research provides insights into the specific nature of men's and women's reproductive health and how society views it. The originality of the research is that it offers a broad insight into how men and women understand reproductive health. It also provides an outline of the current state of reproductive health in society.Limitations/Future Research: The answers obtained from the participantsare subjective in nature and are subject to interpretation by the researchers. It would be useful to conduct quantitative type of studies in the future. Also, one of the limitations is related to the research sample, which includes a set of participantsfrom two Slovenian regions. In the future, it would be necessary to include participantsfrom the whole of Slovenia so that the results can be generalizedto the whole population.
