Abstract:Članek obravnava razvoj digitalnih kompetenc pri študentih, bodočih učiteljih razrednega pouka, z uporabo virtualnega laboratorija Titration screen experiment pri pouku kemije. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 49 študentov Pedagoške fakultete Univerze v Mariboru, ki so po uporabi aplikacije izpolnili vprašalnik o svoji izkušnji. Rezultati so pokazali, da velika večina (skoraj 90 ) študentov pred tem ni imela izkušenj z uporabo računalniških aplikacij za naravoslovne poskuse, kar kaže na pomembno vrzel v njihovem dosedanjem izobraževanju. Kljub temu je aplikacija bistveno pripomogla k razumevanju koncepta titracije in je služila kot odlična priprava na kasnejše eksperimentalno delo v laboratoriju. Študenti so se pri uporabi osredotočili predvsem na proceduralno znanje, medtem ko so problemski kontekst (onesnaženje reke) večinoma spregledali. Kritično so ovrednotili tako pozitivne (nazornost, realizem) kot negativne (angleški jezik, tehnične omejitve) vidike aplikacije. Sklep raziskave je, da je vključevanje tovrstnih orodij v izobraževanje učiteljev ključno za razvoj njihovih digitalnih kompetenc in pedagoške presoje o smiselni rabi tehnologije, pri čemer virtualni laboratoriji predstavljajo pomembno dopolnilo, ne pa nadomestilo za praktično delo.

Title:Developing Digital Competences During Chemistry Courses for Pre-Service Primary Teachers with the Titration Screen Experiments Application
Abstract:The present article examines the development of digital competences in preservice primary school teachers by integrating the Titration Screen Experiment virtual laboratory into a university chemistry course. The study surveyed 49 students to evaluate their experiences with the application. Results indicate that nearly 90 of students lacked prior experience with virtual laboratories, highlighting a significant gap in their previous education. Nevertheless, the application proved highly effective for understanding the concept of titration and served as an excellent preparation for further practical experiments in a real laboratory. Students primarily focused on procedural knowledge, often overlooking the problem-based context of the simulation. They critically assessed the app’s usability, noting both its benefits (e.g., visualisation, realism) and drawbacks (e.g., a language barrier). The study concludes that using virtual laboratories in teacher education is a valuable strategy for enhancing both scientific knowledge and the digital competences necessary for effectively implementing technology in future science classrooms.
