1. Il fornaretto di Venezia tra letteratura e cinemaSonia Radi, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The story of the little baker from Venice, Pietro Tasca, was born at the end of the 18th century. The legend is centred on the calamitous judicial error made by the magistracy of the Council of Ten at the beginning of the 16th century that resulted in Pietro's sentence to death. The legend was created in order to transmit a vision of justice that is always in search for the truth and that - in order to achieve this goal - does not hesitate to publicly admit the error that caused the death of the little baker. The greatness of the Venetian government that does not fear to admit having committed a huge mistake has thus become an emblem of the myth of the Republic of Venice Ključne besede: legend, myth, judicial error, Venice Objavljeno v RUP: 10.07.2015; Ogledov: 2607; Prenosov: 18 Povezava na celotno besedilo |
2. Sexual relations between adults and children in eighteenth-century Venice : the rhetoric of devianceLarry Wolff, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This paper considers several cases that came before Venetian tribunals in the eighteenth century concerning sexual relations between adults and children. The paper will attempt to analyye the precise (or imprecise) nature of the criminality involved in such relations in the eighteenth century, and the particular concerns and procedures of Venetian law in addressing such cases. Analysis will consider to what extent modern terms such as 'deviance' and 'abuse' are relevant for understanding the meaning of such cases in their eighteenth-century contexts, and will address the significance of the Enlightenment for emphasizing particular categories of criminality. Further attention will be addressed to the concept of eighteenth-century libertinism, and its implications for sexual relations between adults and children, and also to the evolution of early modern ideas about the special significance of childhood. The disciplinary framework of the paper will consider the dimensions of legal, social, and cultural history Ključne besede: Venice, childhood, child abuse, sex crime, Casanova, Don Giovanni Objavljeno v RUP: 10.07.2015; Ogledov: 2634; Prenosov: 10 Povezava na celotno besedilo |
3. Ritratto di un criminale aristocratico nel settecentoSilvia Girardello, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The presentation of Count Gasparo Arnaldi from Vicenza (1671-1726), whose life was rich with numerous crimes for which he was put on trial several times by the Venetian Council of Ten, will attempt to cover all his criminal and deviant features. The description is based on an analysis of deliberations of judicial authorities and pleas of victims juxtaposed to - in an unusual triad - reflections of Arnaldi himself and the memories of one of his fellow prisoners Ključne besede: Republic of Venice, criminal, sinner, aristocrats Objavljeno v RUP: 10.07.2015; Ogledov: 2128; Prenosov: 9 Povezava na celotno besedilo |
4. Ottoman merchants in the Adriatic : trade and smugglingMaria Pia Pedani, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In the 15th century sultans discovered the economic importance of the Adriatic. They accepted doges' rule on this sea but, at the end of the 16th century, the presence of Christian and Muslim pirates marred the relations between the two states. Ottoman merchants used to cross the Adriatic to reach the markets of Venice and Ancona. Besides regular trade there was also smuggling: above all arms were exported to the Empire while wheat went westwards. Several links united the two commercial communities: for instance, subjects of the Republic embarked sometimes on Ottoman ships; in the ports of the Serenissima the sultan's merchants used to pay the same customs as Venetians and, sometimes, they also insured themselves with Venetian companies. The wars of the end of the 17th century put a momentary stop to Muslim commercial activities in Venice and in the Adriatic. However, at the beginning of the following century, Albanian vessels charged with Ottoman goods appeared again at St. Mark's docks, even if soon after, in the 1720s', short-sighted Venetian protectionist politics pushed them to prefer the port of Trieste. 5. Garden as an eye : the garden of the venetian palace Soranzo-CappelloErika Zlatkov, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This paper concerns the garden of the Venetian palace Soranzo-Cappello and is situated in a wider iconological and symbolic-theoretical framework. The garden is a continuous meeting of opposites, which succeed in coming to life as a harmonious whole; it is a symbolic space on account of its specific emplacement between nature and cultural landscape, and it is a space of symbols, since it has its own inner speech. The garden's appearance is subjected to climatic, temporal and terrestrial influences, and also to the will of man, who shapes it. The purpose of this study is to lead ourselves to thinking of a garden as a work of art, for man's power of expression is not only real, material; it is also spiritual, immaterial. The Venetian garden represents the interweaving of both. It is a work of art in open space, to which is also given a useful value. It is an emblematic figure, a mental and formal space which differs from the surroundings - both reflective and thoughtful Ključne besede: gardens, genesis, art, myths, visual message, Venice, palace Soranzo-Cappello Objavljeno v RUP: 10.07.2015; Ogledov: 2293; Prenosov: 35 Povezava na celotno besedilo |
