Factors of successful innovation in services

Opis: The objective of the research was to identify innovation factors influencing the performance of service companies. The study encompassed 87 Slovenian companies. The statistical analysis was performed in three phases. The first phase encompassed a principal component analysis, during which five potentially influential input and two output innovation factors were extracted. The second phase consisted of descriptive statistics, thus providing insights into the state of innovativeness in the service sector. Regression analysis followed in the final phase. The results of regression analysis identified the factor of innovation and market policy and the factor comparison with competition as influential on the average total benefit of the company from innovations. Interestingyz, both factors reveal an innovation 'follower' pattern in services, thus indicating that stronger company's own incentives may be required for a breakthrough innovation.

Quality public services dimensions model as a basis for better customer satisfaction management

Opis: In the paper, the importance of quality public services dimensions for achieving higher customer satisfaction is presented and explored on the example of Slovenian administrative units. Purpose of the research was to identify which quality dimensions are the most relevant for quality service delivery in Slovene administrative units in order to contribute to strengthening their customer satisfaction management. Survey questionnaire was developed to gather the research data and as the research methodology, structural equation modelling was used. Based on the research data from 402 respondents and the analysis conducted, the standardized model of the administrative procedure quality estimation was developed. The results prove that two latent variables - procedures and employees - exert the greatest influence on the general assessment of administrative procedure quality. Also other findings and conclusions are presented and discussed in the paper and some areas for further research and investigation are indicated.

Dual-use products export multipliers with the indirect effects

Opis: The micro-macro link is provided for the impact of the dual-use defence-civilian exports of products and services on the Slovenian economy. The unique firm-level data on the dual-use export is integrated in the symmetric 60 groups of activities input-output tables. The classification of the economic activities is used to integrate data on the firm-to-firm dual-use export transactions in the symmetric input-output coding system to avoid the double counting. The input-output modelling approach is used for the measuring of the direct input-output flows and the dual-use products export multipliers with the indirect effects. The direct and indirect effects are analysed by the economic activities, technological intensity of the products and services, and statistical regions in Slovenia. Comparisons with alternative non dual-use high tech are analysed by economic activities in terms of value-added and labour productivity. The dual-use export is associated with high technologically intensive suppliers and sub-suppliers of defence-civilian goods and services. The empirical estimations can serve as a guide in questions of comparing with alternative in economic policy design when investigating trade-offs between allocation of expenditures for defence equipment and their opportunity costs for non dual-use of high tech products and services.
