Employee satisfaction, intrapreneurship and firm growth
Jasna Auer, Boštjan Antončič, 2011, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Purpose - Organizational performance, growth and development may depend considerably on entrepreneurship in existing organizations (intrapreneurship) and intrapreneurship employee-related antecedents. The purpose of this study is to focus on employee satisfaction (composed of four dimensions: general satisfaction with work; employee relationships; remuneration, benefits and organizational culture; and employee loyalty), intrapreneurship and firm growth. The model's underlying hypotheses were conceptually developed and empirically tested. Design/methodology/approach - Using data collected via a structured questionnaire sent by e-mail to 149 firms from Slovenia, the model's hypotheses were tested by applying structural equation modeling. Findings - The findings support the hypothesized relationships between employee satisfaction, intrapreneurship and growth. The influence of the control variables was also assessed in the model and firm age was found to be influential. Research limitations/implications - Firm growth can depend strongly on intrapreneurship and intrapreneurship employee-related antecedents. The study contributes to intrapreneurship research by empirically examining the relationship between employee satisfaction and intrapreneurship and testing the impact of employee satisfaction on firm growth. Practical implications - Firms need to take a detailed and systematic approach to employee satisfaction in order to improve intrapreneurship and growth. Social implications - Activities related to the stimulation of employee satisfaction and intrapreneurship can have also social implications, since they can increase creation of the new wealth in the society. Originality/value - This study can be differentiated from past studies, since it considers an ensemble of employee satisfaction elements (general satisfaction with work, employee relationships, remuneration, benefits and organizational culture and employee loyalty) as a crucial antecedent of intrapreneurship and builds a model of employee satisfaction-driven intrapreneurship and firm growth, which has not been examined before.

The Ottoman economic legacy on the Balkans
Valentina Dimitrova-Grajzl, 2007, drugi članki ali sestavki

Opis: When discussing South East Europe, the Ottoman Empire stands out in history asa prime candidate for an inquiry on historical path-dependence of institutions in the region. This paper analyzes the historical origins of the Ottoman legacy and identifies the legacy with particular pertinence to the economic performance of the South East European states. It distinguishes the legacy in relation to social values and beliefs as the one, which has had the most persistent and profound effect on the Ottoman successor states' paths of economic development.

Proprietary technology development and firm growth
Boštjan Antončič, Arzu Ulgen Aydinlik, Jasna Auer, Peter Fatur, Mitja Ruzzier, 2011, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Proprietary technology development can be important for firm performance and competitiveness. The focus of this paper is on proprietary technology development and its impact on firm performance in terms of growth. A hypothesis about the relationship between proprietary technology development and firm growth was developed and empirically tested. Data were collected from firms in Turkey via a structured questionnaire. The hypothesis was tested by using regression analysis. The findings give an indication of the impact of proprietary technology development on firm growth.

Factors of successful innovation in services
Marko Ropret, Peter Fatur, Karmen Rodman, Borut Likar, 2011, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The objective of the research was to identify innovation factors influencing the performance of service companies. The study encompassed 87 Slovenian companies. The statistical analysis was performed in three phases. The first phase encompassed a principal component analysis, during which five potentially influential input and two output innovation factors were extracted. The second phase consisted of descriptive statistics, thus providing insights into the state of innovativeness in the service sector. Regression analysis followed in the final phase. The results of regression analysis identified the factor of innovation and market policy and the factor comparison with competition as influential on the average total benefit of the company from innovations. Interestingyz, both factors reveal an innovation 'follower' pattern in services, thus indicating that stronger company's own incentives may be required for a breakthrough innovation.

Serious gaming supporting competence development in sustainable manufacturing
Heiko Duin, Gregor Cerinšek, Manuel Fradinho, Marco Taisch, 2012, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Becoming a sustainable global manufacturing enterprise is a challenge for almost every manufacturing organization in the world because of its multidimensional nature. Sustainability combines environmental, economic, and social dimensions and is considered to be a complex and hard to learn subject needing a lot of experience and competences. Traditional ways to create such experience and develop competences like role playing and simulations tend to take a lot of time and are expensive. On the other hand, serious gaming has proven to support learners in acquiring new and complex knowledge and is ideally suited to support problem based learning by creating engaging experiences around a contextual problem where users must apply competences to solve these presented challenges. This chapter introduces a new learning environment which is build around a gaming engine supporting the development of competences in specific subject areas. Selected competences in sustainable global manufacturing lead to the definition of scenarios, which then can be executed by a game engine, thus creating experience within the user. A knowledge ecology space allows the user to interact and reflect on learning outcomes with other participants. The subject of sustainable global manufacturing is the application case presented in this chapter showing how specific competences in this area have been identified and how a game scenario has been developed. Finally, its implementation and evaluation is discussed.

Marketing culture as a tool for development of a sustainable organization
Roberto Biloslavo, Anita Trnavčevič, 2011, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Within the category of organizational assets, the Žcultureʼ of the organization is that element which forms most slowly, but in turn has the most sustainable and, in companies with a strong culture, also the strongest influence on the operation of the organization. Thus it is no surprise that theoreticians and practitioners of management have focussed on the question of what kind of culture an organization needs that would amount to a source of sustainable competitive advantage. As certain current research has shown marketing culture may be the answer to this question. Changing the culture of an organization into marketing culture is a process that may begin and be motivated solely if we know to which extent the marketing culture is already present or developed within the organization. This is even more important if we consider that only organizations which really focused on their customersʼ needs are ready to develop and invest in new green technologies. The paper presents an instrument for the measurement of marketing culture, its implementation in a representative sample of medium-large and large food processing companies in Slovenia and discusses the methodological questions and implications, which rose from the use of the developed instrument.
