Ustvarjanje znanja za trajnostni razvoj visokošolskih ustanov
Mirko Markič, Tina Quéchon, 2026, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Izobraževanje za trajnostni razvoj predstavlja enega izmed globalnih ciljev iz Agende Združenih narodov do leta 2030 ter vsebuje pridobivanje novih znanj in veščin. Management znanja pomeni ustvarjanje, pridobivanje, deljenje, hranjenje in uporabo znanja.

Conceptualisation of Forest Tourism : The Kočevsko Case Study
Barbara Pavlakovič Farrell, Vita Petek, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper presents the definition of forest tourism and three varieties of forest tourism activities. An empirical study was conducted to examine the perception of forest tourism and forest activities in the case study of the Kočevsko forest in Slovenia. The triangulation approach consisted of a survey among Slovenian tourists, interviews with tourism stakeholders, and content analysis of promotional elements of the Kočevsko destination. The data showed that tourists find forest destinations interesting, safe, unspoilt, and suitable for young people and families. They describe forest tourism with the words ‘bear’, ‘forest’, and ‘nature’. The respondents mostly prefer outdoor forest activities, wildlife observation slightly less, and lastly the relaxation options. The knowledge gained could help forest destinations to develop their products and adopt the appropriate customer approach.

Integration of Lean and Six Sigma Methodology for Process Improvement
Dušan Gošnik, 2025, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Lean (L) and Six Sigma (SS) are among the most popular process improvement methodologies in organisations. This research reveals, how can L and SS methodologies be integrated. Integration of L and SS can improve outcome of process improvement initiatives, improve process efficiency and improve also thus related organisational performance. L enables SS speed such as faster cycles of experimentation and learning and on the other hand SS enables L quality such as less defects and less time for rework. Despite well-known benefits of LSS, many organisations are still not using LSS. Based on literature review we analyse and present the latest findings and research results about LSS use in organisations including various perspectives such as; how to integrate L and SS, impact on process improvement and organisation performance, in which stages of SS projects can L be integrated the most efficiently, what to consider at LSS use to achieve better process efficiency in organisations. Suggestions for more efficient LSS use in organisations include; interaction of L and SS at process improvement actions already in the project planning phase, the use of LLS based on an available resources and top management support. Experiences about LSS use from organisations Slovenia are presented. Research results dependent on the secondary literature review and limited data about LSS use and experiences from Slovenia. The results of this study have a great value to researchers, LSS practitioners, managers in organisations during planning and scheduling LSS projects.

ESG, Risk Management and SMEs : What Are the Potential Links? An Empirical Analysis of Friulia S.p.A.’s Investment Portfolio
Tommaso Cortivo, 2015, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: This paper examines the determinants of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) adoption in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) financed by Friulia S.p.A., a privately managed institutional investor under public control of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. Using data collected through a structured questionnaire, we build a synthetic indicator of ESG activation through Principal Component Analysis (PCA), which captures the degree to which firms internalise sustainability practices. The first three principal components extracted through PCA represent distinct ESG dimensions and are used, separately, as dependent variables in Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regressions, with environmental certification and firm size as explanatory factors. Results show that the presence of an environmental certification is significantly associated with stronger ESG activation – particularly along the operational dimension – confirming its role as a key driver of structured sustainability practices. By contrast, firm size does not emerge as a significant predictor, suggesting that financial support (equity, specifically) from a professional investor may offset resource disparities across SMEs. Secondary ESG dimensions related to governance and residual social behaviours are not explained by structural variables, pointing instead to cultural and organisational factors. The findings contribute to the literature on SME sustainability by demonstrating that certifications serve as both signalling and learning tools, while also providing practical guidance for policymakers and public investors on how to design effective strategies to support the ESG transition of SMEs.

The Journey of Success in Finnish Defence Projects : A Longitudinal Study
Ilkka Ikonen, Henrik Juhol, 2025, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: This study investigates the critical success factors influencing the success of defence equipment projects within the Finnish Defence Forces over a three-decade period from 2006 to 2025. Utilizing a longitudinal research design, the study captures changes in success factors in response to evolving organizational and environmental contexts. The research is grounded in a literature review on project success and success factors, with particular focus on defence industry. The main research question of this study is: How have the critical success factors of Finnish defense equipment projects changed from 2006 to 2025? By comparing empirical data from three case studies conducted in 2006, 2018 and 2025, the study offers insights into the constancy and transformation of critical success factors over time. This study contributes to the literature by providing a nuanced understanding of success factors in defence procurement projects, differentiating them from industry delivery projects. It highlights the unique challenges faced by procurement-focused projects and provides actionable insights for practitioners aiming to optimize project performance in the defence sector. The research calls for enhanced project management education and training within the Finnish Defence Forces to address the dual challenges of increasing demands and rising equipment costs.

Governance failure and wildfire escalation : a multi-level analysis of institutional preparedness, corruption, and emergency response
Daraz Umar, Štefan Bojnec, Younas Khan, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Wildfire escalation is increasingly threatening ecosystems and communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan, particularly in forest and rangeland landscapes where eco- logical flammability interacts with human activity. While environmental and climatic drivers are well studied, governance factors remain underexplored despite their decisive role in shaping how ecological risk translates into disasters. Regional forests show consid- erable ecological diversity, including chir pine-dominated stands, mixed temperate conifer forests, broadleaved oak-associated systems, and shrub rangeland mosaics, each differing in fuel structure and fire behavior. Dependence on fuelwood collection, grazing, and forest access further influences ignition probability and fire spread. This study examines how governance failures influence wildfire risk and severity through a Governance-Fire Risk Framework. Governance is treated as a determining institutional condition affecting prevention capacity, regulation of hazardous land use, fuel management, and emergency response effectiveness. A cross-sectional survey of 540 stakeholders from rural (Dir Lower, Dir Upper) and peri-urban districts (Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad) was analyzed using SPSS (version 26) and AMOS (version 24) (CFA and SEM). Governance failure significantly escalates wildfire risk through delayed emergency response, regulatory non-compliance, political interference, and weak institutional coordination. Institutional preparedness and response capacity reduce risks, whereas corruption intensifies them. Corruption functions through illegal land conversion, diversion of fire management resources, procurement irregularities, nepotistic staffing, and selective enforcement, increasing ignition sources, fuel accumulation, and response delays. Rural districts show stronger governance-fire linkages. Wildfire escalation in KP is governance-driven in interaction with ecological conditions and community dependence on forest resources. Effective mitigation requires anti-corruption measures, rapid response systems, stronger enforcement, and improved preparedness. The study offers a transferable governance-focused framework for wildfire management in fire-prone developing regions.

Analysis of key impact factors in new methods implementation in organisations : a change management perspective
Dušan Gošnik, Mateja Jerman, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background/Purpose: This paper examines the key factors for successful change implementation in organisations, management qualities, and the most common barriers to change implementation. The main change we focus on is implementing new work methods in the organisation, such as Six Sigma, Lean, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and similar methods. Methods: The latest findings from the literature about change management, key success factors and barriers to change implementation are presented. An empirical study of 55 organisations from Slovenia is presented. An online questionnaire was used to gather data. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data. The research questions concerned the key factors influencing the successful implementation of organisational changes, the qualities neces- sary for organisational leaders, and the most common barriers to successful implementation. Results: The key factors for successful change implementation are strongly connected to cultural and human-re- lated factors, such as top management and employee involvement. Choosing the right leaders and communicating effectively about the implementation of change are key success factors. Key barriers identified include ineffective means of communication and employee habits and mindsets that do not support change. The most important quality of a manager who is leading organisational change is respect for other parties in the change management process, such as employees. Conclusion: Understanding key success factors and the barriers to implementing change in organisations can im- prove change management practices. The findings contribute to a better understanding of change management in the implementation of new methods in organisations and deliver theoretical and practical implications.

History and Practice of Contract Archaeology in Namibia
Goodman Gwasira, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This article traces how contract archaeology in Namibia emerged and consolidated after 1990 at the intersection of environmental regulation, donor requirements, and large-scale development – especially mining and energy infrastructure. It shows that, for decades, practice was largely self-regulated in the absence of national guidelines, drawing authority from Environmental Impact Assessments and the National Heritage Act. Comparing regional standards (e.g. SAHRA, ASAPA), the paper argues for clear standard operating procedures, professional accreditation, and capacity building to ensure ethical, consistent work that contributes to scholarship and community engagement. It concludes that Namibia now has an opportunity to professionalise the field, leverage ‘grey literature’ for research, and align heritage protection with sustainable development.
